I'm trying to use the classic controller code found here: http://www.pixlbit.com/news?action=showNewsArticle&newsArticleId=1037

The link for the pre-made code is dead so I'm trying to create the .gct file myself (I have never done this before). Basically, I'm copy/pasting the code from the link (I've tried both v1 and v2) to the gecko code creator here: http://geckocodes.org/index.php?gct=#addcodes, then I download the code and rename the gct file SF8E01.gct and place it in the "codes" folder on my SD card, then I go to USB Loader GX, select DCKR, turn Ocarina codes ON for that game and boot it up with my classic controller plugged it. But as soon as the game starts up I get an error message telling me to unplug unsupported controller from the Wii Remote.

I just don't know what went wrong. ;) Please help.

Use mine, I remaped the buttons though:
y : run
b: jump
zr : roll/blow/stomp

It's working for me, so if it doesn't work for you maybe it has to do with the brand of your CC.

I've tried both the code Pokemon128 referenced, and the GCT posted by OriginalHamster, but I can't get this to work. Sad, it's one of the main reasons I modded my Wii. I keep getting a message that I'm using an unsupported controller. Does this only work with the Classic Controller and not the Pro Classic Controller? I tried several of the cheat "hooks" with no luck...

I'm also have this problem. I've tried everything I can think off. I have tried about 4 different files, version 1 version 2 the snes layout on he bottom on the pixelbit page, and original hamsters file. I can't seem to get past the title screen. I've tried 3 different loaders, USB loader gx, neogamma and another one which I think is an older neogamma. I've turned ocarina on in the loader settings with the hookyype on VBI and all the other ones. Then after I select the game and the spinning disc screen I went into setting and checked ocarina, which prompted me to download a file for cheats. I have the original classic controller.

I wonder, for those who got it to work, what loader were you using? I'm currently using CFG USB Loader.

Also wondering if there were different versions of this game. I just ripped my own personal copy, but maybe it works better with other ripped ISOs on the net?

I'm really hoping someone responds that can point us in the right direction. I remember getting this game like the day it came out and then after trying to play it with the bad controls I stopped it. The dkc series was a staple of my youth that I continue to I back and play to this day. Why Nintendo wouldn't at least offer this as another option really makes me angry.

I had recently hooked up my wii to play some old emulated games and then was in best buy and saw the new one on wii u and it looked amazing. I played it briefly and it make me remember this game so I went back to it. And google lead me to the pixelbit page. I really want to play this game with the classic controller.

I got it working for me using the v1 codes, must've copied something wrong before... I tried a few variations of the controls before I was happy, here's a ZIP of them in case anyone needs them. Just rename to SF8E01.gct. Got it to work using VBI hook in CFG USB Loader.

Not sure if they'll help you, Camaro45th, but it's worth a shot!

Congrats! I'm going to try these in a little bit, I am hoping they work. Is the zip just the .gct file? Or is the text file as well? And did you copy into 1 location or 2? I have to find cfg USB loader on the interweb.

Nix zero, I <3 you. Worked like a charm. Also, your labeling of each layout on the file name is great. I tried the first one and then once I saw it worked, I am lapsing the 3rd one on now for a more snes style controller. Thank you so much can't wait to play this now! And cfg loader works great, I wonder why USB loader gx didn't work, and neogamma as well.

Glad to hear it worked for you, too, Camaro! Sorry I wasn't around to help with the install, I gotta remember to subscribe to threads on this forum...

the new controls definitely make the game more enjoyable. It's not EXACTLY like the SNES (where Y made you jump, grab, and roll), but it's still a lot better than motion controls. I prefer using the GCT where R controls rolls, actually. I still have a hard time timing high-jumps off of enemies and I often use diddy's jetpack by accident, but I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.

The only issue I have is with cfg itself. It seems that it doesn't always load properly. Usually I have to start it and then start it again bc I don't hear the music play. That's how I know it's not going to load the game. I tried to update it I think it's something like v7r65 if that makes sense. Plus I'm having an issue with bootmii not letting me boot into homebrew channel. I have to manually press the reset button on startup to boot into the regular wii menu. If I can get that fixed, and put a dedicated channel for cfg to work I would be happier, but the fact that I got this game to play with the CC is amazing. Thank you again

I'm having similar troubles getting the CC hack to work on vWii. I've gotten the v1 codes to work for me before when I had my Wii hooked up still, but I'm not sure what the deal is. Right now I have a codes folder located in the root of my SD card which has both the .txt and .gct files inside of it. I tried using it with both Cfg and USB Loader GX, but at the intro screen I still get the "Unsupported Controller" message.

Excuse me, sorry for necroposting, but I have a "Wired Fight Pad" (a Gamecube-like control which works as Classic Controller), and I would like to ask you if you could make a cheat file which: A is for Jump, B is for run and R for roll/blow/stomp, because of buttons positions I can't run with Y and jump with B. Thanks in advance :D

Can someone tell me how to edit these so R is grab/run and Y is roll? That's how Tropical Freeze does it.

EDIT: I found this which lets me map it as I see fit: https://github.com/libertyernie/ClassicMapEditor
