Homebrew Is It Possible to Remap GameCube Controls via Ocarina?

I recently discovered that Donkey Kong Country Returns has an Ocarina cheat (via USB Loader GX) that allows the use of the Wii Pro Controller here.

I'm wondering if something simular can be done for remapping buttons for GameCube games? A specific example would be remapping THPS3 controls simular to the PS2 controller.

where are you playing this game? gamecube? if so you could just use like nintendont ans you would need to edit nintendont controller code and recompile it, so probably simpler than ocarina cheats no?
