Hacking Is there any confirmed brick from mt card users?

So far we have:

• R4i <--- several consoles bricked because it's a clone that triggered the brick code
• 3DSLink <--- several consoles bricked because it's a clone that triggered the brick code
• Gateway 3DS <--- they coded and planned the brick, all the above console bricks are their decision, and they even have official users with bricked consoles. They hold the brick record by far.

So what about mt-card? is there any confirmed brick? they cloned the code before Gateway 3DS decided to brick consoles that used clones, so they were not affected by their plans.

This is incorrect. Only a small portion of users on 2.0b2 got bricks. Most people are on 2.0b1 which has no bricks and even most people with 2.0b2 don't have bricks.
Clones v3.1, 3.2, 3.3 all gave high chances of brick because they copied 2.0b2. The latest firmware 3.3b is just 2.0b1 of gateway (they used the older firmware and pretend it's new because they couldn't remove the brick code).

MT-Card is not based on gateway firmware so there is no brick code to be triggered.


In short, if you want any newer features, you can only trust gateway or MT-Card.

no there are no confirmed bricks and there probably wont be unless someone has some major freak accident I mean..even Nintendo has managed to brick a handful of their own consoles with the last eshop update the mt card is a clone in the sense that it uses gateway 1.2 though it has some different aspects and it seems that the launcher..while based on gateways ..has atleast SOME real work done on it by the mt card team..though I don't see anywhere that states a proven document of this it seems to be so atleast the only thing is....do you trust mt card enough to buy their card? I mean they haven't made bricks of anyones 3ds consoles yet but whose to say they wont steal some of gateways code in the future or atleast copy their method of making more roms be compatable with their cards? yes they have multirom and gateway doesn't but in that..they also have a shit ton less compatability with games...gateway has 3 games that don't run..both pokemon games..and animal crossing...that's damn good if u ask me lol ps =P I haven't bricked yet!

When I say that I'm explicitly referring to the fact that their brick record is composed by a)their own legit user AND b)all the unaware clone users that got damaged by gateway 3ds (you have to admit they went too far, and the users ended up being screwed instead of the clone makers).

I was looking for a reply like:

"none, but you also have this other flashcarts without bricking reports". I'm very convinced about gateway, because I've been reading a lot. But I was not convinced about what other alternatives were viable. I'm not going to risk my 3DS with a bricking device, so I'm trying to avoid the clones that were affected (because they didn't write their own code either)

The way I see it, is that if MT where capable of doing their own coding, why did they copy gateways initial work, surely they could/should of done it themselves, and before they released their FW they where saying they had emunand and everything ready.........now after the brick reports, nothing at all in terms of adding features,

Idk but if you ask me it seems the MT card was planning on stealing more code, but followed the rest of the clones and chickened out

It's like if someone just copies a Shakespeare play and slightly changes the ending.....it doesn't prove they can write as good as Shakespeare, just that they can edit his work to a degree

imo i don't mind about their code. i only interested in their own features which include multi roms and direct save.

Why should they waste the time they could using for developing new features if they could just copy the basic code?

Because then it's their own code and they wouldn't have to worry about gateway blocking them and having to start from scratch at a later date, in sure if they knew what the code was doing they could make a simple copy without using any of gateways code,

It would of greatly benefited them and they would of gotten respect for proving they actually know how the code works

Anyways nobody knows at this point but personally I wouldn't put faith in a team that relies on copying code, even if they can add bits to it

Agreed, this is why I've stuck by GW so far and have enjoyed their product. I'm very excited to see their new FW... And only mildly curious to see what the others can steal from it.

Because they're still a shady company and copying is less work.

They started from the GW 1.2 launcher and that's their base. They will never have problems with the code they already copied.

valid points. I don't know, its just that I won't ever give my money to the bricking machine, I mean, gateway. And I thought it was cool to have the extra button to save games, but most of all, I was looking for a real alternative to Gateway, something with 0 bricks reports.

Your options are there take them or leave them. A CFW is still a while away so your choice is between GW and the Clones. Mt are the only ones not to release software with brick code, and their development seems non existent in terms of future updates. Bricking may not be nice... Buy it's a sign of the struggle of Dev's trying to protect their work to keep them in business. Not out of spite for the end user.
