I didn't know this existed. Where can I find one? Even the Kingston website doesn't have them over 1 TB.

Pretty clearly fake. Only ones I see on Amazon are clearly unofficial, cost only a fifth or so of the 1TB drives, and the 'reviewers' don't even try to hide that they're the ones selling them. No way even a 256GB stick would go for as low as 70-something pounds, and the eBay seller only has cheap Chinese items in their feedback history.

It was on Ebay and it sold. Weird. There's one on Amazon for $300. Way too much for 2TB.
There are crooks anywhere. Just because it was sold on ebay does not mean it is legit.

Flashdrive is expensive, because they use NAND which is also the main components for SSD.

I'm pretty sure Drakorex only mentioned Ebay because FireEmblem mentioned Amazon as if it were sold on Amazon. Not to imply that things from Ebay are not fake

Whilst it is possible to find a flash drive like the one advertised that may show up in windows as a 2TB drive, it is not something you would desire. Fakes are known for using software and hardware compression techniques to make it look bigger than it is, with almost zero stability.

Edit: that said, SanDisk are working on a 2TB MicroSD card. It'll take a couple more years, but at least the theoretical capability is there.

Even if it is legit, it is not something most people want. It is not cheap, and it is not good for archiving files (long term storage) either.

For posterity, those not in the know should use a program like h2testw when they are unsure if they are in possession of a counterfeit flash drive (or flash memory otherwise). This program tends to give a very good indication if there are issues with the quality of the flash drive.

With any Flash Storage, if the deal looks too good to be true, then it is.

Don't believe too-good-to-be-true prices. If you're having a problem with appraising the value of Flash storage, then google 1TB, 256GB, 125GB, 64GB, and so on down that path. Even among different brands, the prices of legitimate flash storage doesn't stray too far off from the norm. Also, NEVER, unless you have a good reason, buy Trans Flash on eBay with anyone less than a feedback of 1000. 1000+ Feedback shows that a person/store is a professional, legitimate shop suggesting that you'll get what you paid for. If you're buying Trans Flash at a cheap price from someone with 50 feedback, then that suggests theres trickery afoot. Even if they have 100% positive feedback, you have to be open to the idea that their customers are either fake, or are too dumb to know fake Flash Storage from the real thing. Don't trust the extra low prices on Amazon. I myself played the fool by purchasing an SD card that was nearly half priced and could tell instantly when I started using my product that I've been sold a fake. You must also be open to the idea that even if a store is legit, they too can make the mistake of unknowingly stocking fake Flash when they thought they were getting a good deal buying in bulk on sale. Actually the only time I recommend buying from eBay is when large online retailers like newegg or buydigg is having a sale, and even then the most you'll often ever save is like 35-40% off.

Ebay and Amazon does refund you though when you're reporting counterfeits.

Another indicator of a scam store, is if you email them asking for a refund because you suspect counterfeit flash, they'll refund you your money to prevent you from reporting them, even they don't tell you to send the item back. A real store demands you send them back the product so they can claims it and report on it, while a counterfeit store gives you a refund instantly and doesn't ask you for a return. They're trying to make you happy so you don't feel compelled to report them, so they can still continue to sell their fakes unhindered.

So basically if you're willing t play the waiting game, you can "buy" a counterfeit flash storage from a store you know isn't legit, then threaten them and tell them you know their secret, and then they'll refund you, and you have a free counterfeit. Nearly all the counterfeits I have in my house say 32GB but are really 1GB, and in the end I always got back my money on all of them anyways.

Actually, recently (march/april) a colleague of mine returned from a business trip to Shanghai where he had been to the "fake market" and bought a 2TB (not MB or GB) USB thumbdrive for a mere equivalent of 4$ US. Thinking that this must obviously be a fake, he bought one as a novelty. Once home he tested it out by filling it with compressed video files. which took about 2-3 days, but it was indeed 2TB, and he could play random files from it when testing.

Yesterday, another colleague came back, and had bought five similar ones - these were branded by a well known brand and about 15$ US each - one was confiscated in the Chinese customs as the package was broken and there was data on it.
Have not had the test results yet - nor managed to negotiate buying one of these off him :( - but it seems that the 2 TB usb drives are available very cheap on the markets in China.
They are substantially thicker than typical thumbdrives, but still within the "thumb size range".

So, while the branding might be fake, the capacity - if true memory capacity or by some compression technology - is real.

Searching Alibaba.com yields quite a few results while Aliexpress yeilds none (as i could find), but spellingmistakes and outright lies are rife on these sites, so its tricky to know which to get.
