Since PS4 and XO were released I've been deciding whether my future multiplatform games will be all on PS4 or XO because for the last two gens it was on Xbox but this time around it looks like PlayStation has beaten Xbox with the better specs.

One of those multiplatform games being Tomb Raider that on PS4 is 60fps and XO is 30fps, so it does show that PS4 outperforms Xbox One.

That and the Free-to-Play games on PS4 are free of charge whereas on Xbox One it requires Gold membership.

It's hard to say but it looks like I'll be going with PS4 for its exclusives & multiplatforms, that is unless Microsoft brings out an amazing game that gathers my interest (CONKER!!). I'll admit that Quantum Break looks cool but it's sort of the type of game that Quantic Dream develops (minus the pause time thingy).

I think this time around the PS4 will be the better console for multiplat games. Last gen the PS3 was a bit more difficult to port games to because of it's choice in architecture and hardware, but now that both the PS4 and the XBone share similar hardware and such, there's no reason the PS4 would struggle with multiplats as the PS3 did in it's early years.

So far the PS4 appears to have the upper hand, which is understandable since it has a higher-clocked CPU and a stronger GPU than the XBox One. There's a couple more differences already noticable in the multiplatforms, I'll post a handy list for ya:
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts runs at 720p on the XBox One and 900p on the PS4
  • Battlefield 4 runs at 720p on the XBox One and 900p on the PS4
  • Assassin's Creed 4 runs at 900p on the XBox One and 1080p on the PS4 (after a patch was implemented)
  • Tomb Rider: Definitive Edition runs at 1080p @ 30 FPS during gameplay and 900p @ 30 FPS during cutscenes on the XBox One and 1080p @ 60 FPS on the PS4
  • Thief runs at 720p/900p on the XBox One and 1080p on the PS4 (Resolution not confirmed yet, an industry insider merely stated that it's "Not 1080p" on the XBox One)

So far it's not looking good for the XBox One on the multiplatform front. Hopefuly giving the developers 8% extra computing power previously used by the Kinect will let the system catch up to the PS4, but as of today, the PS4 seems to be the better system for multiplatform titles.

That just confirms it. So for me this gen will be PS4 and Wii U, I tried to be opened to consider Xbox One but there's just nothing convincing to get one not even Killer Instinct (99 or whatever combos but it's just in-game cutscenes).

I won't mind DualShock 4 because it felt pretty comfy just like an Xbox/Nintendo/Sega controller.

But still, I'll wait until 2015/16 for a PS4 Slim and price drop as I'm not in a rush to get one.

At the end of the day, the PS4 just has better hardware, with or without the Kinect taxing the XBone's GPU - there are some things a firmware update cannot change. I honestly believe that the PS4 will continue to have better versions of multiplatform titles throughout the generation, even if marginally so, and I'm not trying to sound fanboyinsh here, the GPU is factually better, the memory is more well-suited for game development and there's more juice to be squeezed out of it.
