Possible that the trigger for the Bricking code has been in the Gateway launcher as to why Official bricks are occurring

and relates to any file on the SD card being dated 4th Feb 2014 or later
so if someone either has a file with that date on there SD card or Puts Forward there Internal clock (for play coin cheating) thus when the 3DS next saves to the SD it creates a file with the date 4th Feb or Later then a Brick could occur

possible Kill Code found

Code:
0x10410,0x10) MMC_SET_BLOCKLEN

0x50c1b,0) //PROGRAM_CSD

0x50c2a,0x0) setpass

0x10410,0x200) MMC_SET_BLOCKLEN

The fourth is in 5 days, and I don't see 2.0 final being ready by then. Will everyone's console who has files dated on or past the fourth be bricked? IIRC Devin had files dated past the fourth and he ended up bricking.

they could easily releases 2.0b3 tho

who is still using version 2.0b2 (or the clones' versions) is either uninformed, dumb, or in possession of the unbricking hardware, lol.
anyway, wasn't there a check for a randomly generated number in the brick code, so that the brick couldn't occur 100% of the times?

I don't know what could possibly be related to the 4th. Both clones and Gateway users had bricking issues begin roughly a month earlier than that.

Unless it goes from "possible brick" to "guaranteed brick" after the 4th. I doubt that, though.

Maybe they'll release the 2.0 final on the 4th, and then when people start Gateway mode on the 4th, it'll say "An update is available!". Anyone could easily check this right now by setting their 3DS's date to the 4th, though.

Or it'll just double the chance of a brick, I'm betting this one is the case.

let me put it this way: i'm on 2.0b1 atm

one temper who wanted to provoke a brick (crazy i tell you!) set his pc system date to 2014-02-05, put the region free patched launcher on the SD and still had to try for 45 minutes for it to trigger.

So it still doesn't seem to be 100%

I use 2.0B2 sometimes because I'm too lazy to downgrade :D But I don't use my GW very often any more (and I own both an arduino and a Raspberry pi).

Maybe it's a backup for the case that the first bricking code gets discovered.

Yep. It works now and I thrust GW that they will replace my 3DS if it gets bricked.

Well, you're a fool to trust an unknown Chinese company (that isn't even a year old) to replace anything if it breaks. After all the confirmed reports of Gateway bricks, to stick with their newest firmware is just reckless. Don't be a fanboy and use some common sense.

i`m using 2,02b too. plying every night, dont care about brick i`ll hookup arduino if needed, so nothing to be scared of!

But he said thrust, not trust. :P I don't think anyone fully trusts Gateway, especially not after this whole bricking fiasco.

If I were manufacturing something for a demographic consisting of gamer nerds, the last thing I would want to do is upset them.
