I went to play some sweat Zelda today and wouldn't ya know it. All savegame files are missing.

The last time my boy was playing Zelda, he didn't bother to close the software. He just let the 3ds die and power off.

Now when I go to play all the save slots are empty. I looked on the SD card and there are two savegame files (at least I think that's what they are) but they don't seam to load when I fire up the ROM.

I've since updated to Gateway 2.0b2 and it didn't make any difference.

These are the two files on the root of SD. There were 2 savegames on the Zelda game:
00040000000D5A00.sav (0 bytes)
00040000000EC300.sav (512 kb)

If I have truly lost all of my savegame data would someone be willing to share a sav file with me so I don't have to start all over again? I had just gotten to Lorule and began to explore around.

... please use search function -_-, your question is already solved on another older thread.

if you reused your SDCard like create new save game from your flashcard, used e-shop, ect. it will overwritten on your old data, and make it not recoverable file or on another word your original old save data is corrupted. used a application is can clone your SDCard on raw mode, and used hex editor to find and extract selected files, or simply used recover tool like recuva.

but i don't know why is not happen to me. so my opinion before given to your boy, backup everything.

English please. Can't make heads or tails of any of your sentences.

I already ran data recovery on it. That save file 00040000000EC300.sav is still there on the root of the SD even after recovery software. It seams in tact. It just doesn't load for some reason.

OP, just to inform you, there's a new firmware available (2.0b2).

Please re-read OP:

Please re-read OP:

Obv if the save was lost, updating to 2.0b2 is not gonna magically recover it. But people (like myself) has been finding less and less problems with the saving compared to 2.0b1.

I think your best bet is the saves thread. And to learn some manners.

New info...

I attempted to create a new file and save it at the first save point outside of Links house at the beginning. After saving it I hit home and then X to close the software. Waited a few minutes and loaded up the game again. No savegames listed. All three save slots empty. This gives me hope that maybe it just doesn't like my SD card all of sudden. If that's the case then my original save is still good. I'm going to try a different SD card and copy the data over.

Have you tried doing a full (not quick) format of that SD card and re-doing emuNAND, etc. all over again? Might save you some money and/or time.

Throwing a stone at someone's English (when a solid number of people who could actually help you have English as a second language) isn't the way to go.

Besides, your question has been answered:

1) You need to update to Beta 2 for your card. Known save issues in Beta 1.
2) There's a savegame thread. Use that, and you'll probably get a save file that means you don't need to start over. Just don't insult their English.

Edit: Beta 2 won't get your file back. It WILL help this not to happen again.

Holy cow, you guys need to calm down and quit crying. I was just trying to get some clarification because he wasn't making sense. Wow, who knew that forum members on gbatemp were so fragile. Go ahead and flame and/or ban me. I don't really care and don't wish to post anymore on a forum where I get flamed for asking for clarification on a post that makes NO sense. LOL, what a bunch of tools

i think the kick the boy in the tushie is a good comment..

this isn't software problem, it's people who is the issue . we all know using 3ds with gateway changes the way to save a file. Teach you kid how to save and learn him
how important it is to save before ...

You all said that I was basically screwed! Well guess what, with help from a more knowledgeable crowd on another forum I was able to successfully restore my savegame files.

Your knowledge of this product is seriously lacking! What a waste of time asking for help from you idiots!

Welcome to the internet. Don't feed the troll please, he should now go with the more knowledgeable guys so don't stop him please.

"more knowledgeable"

He probably just didn't make the mistake of insulting them and they gladly helped out.
