Hacking Deleted apps

I was playing around in OFW settings and went into data management. Nothing was shown on SD in any of the categories. When I exited, Youtube and Netflix were both gone. Is this a known bug or something? If I would have done this in EmuNAND would the same thing have happened? I also had a save file for OOT that did not show up under data management, yet the save file is still there when I load the game, which I'm kind of confused about. Are we not able to manage data through the system, or did I do something wrong? I'd just go ahead and re-download these apps and try the same thing in EmuNAND, except e-shop is down ATM.

Also, I haven't been able to get Youtube to load in EmuNAND 7.1. Although Netflix does work. Is Youtube unusable for us or something?

The same thing happened to me. Apparently if you go into data management in the real NAND it notices all the incompatible files and cleans them up for you. If you redownload them it will wipe your save. I lost 5 hours of progress in Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies because of this. I also noticed that by looking in the DSiware data management settings it messes with 3DSware in a different way. It didn't delete my 3DSware games, but it made them act like they were newly downloaded (when they are wrapped up and you have to unwrap them) but it kept my save data. I'm not sure weather opening data management will delete save back ups. I'm too scared to check. Either way, avoid looking in data management at all in the real NAND. Looking through it in emuNAND is perfectly safe.

Figured as much, thanks for the clarification. I assume you mean by redownloading, only the saves for that specific title will be deleted. Regardless, I will backup my Zelda save (the only game I've played) and download those two apps again in emu.

this is why you keep a regular backup of your id0 and id1 the 00000098 and 00000220 folders and the title.db and ofcourse the game itself.

I know the importance of backing up data. There were literally 3 hours of use on the console. The only thing that I had installed was Youtube, Netflix, the Gateway exploit and a save file through the first dungeon in OOT, which was not deleted.

More accurately, this is why Nintendo shouldn't code the firmware so that it deletes unrecognized data automatically when you go to view it if it (if that is the case). It's obvious why it's done, but still unexpected.

Oh when it's visible in the home menu and deletes when Starting the app :-P i noticed that one when hotswaping SD cards. It's linked to that app Being missing on either app data or in title.db

Why shouldn't they? To make it more compatible with piracy?

If the ticket (and probably other data) of the content doesn't exist on the real NAND, the firmware deletes them.

Just since you mentioned you're playing DDestinies, I thought i'd ask. How do you purchase the extra case DLC? When I go to buy it, it just closes eshop and starts DDestinies. All I see is "Start new case" at the title screen.

Also, since I just started buying eshop games on my emunand side, I noticed that when I reboot the 3ds, that the eshop games are displayed both on the sysnand, and emunand side. Does anything change if I play the game on the nand side vs emunand side? Has anyone trying the same game on both sides? Will the 3ds explode? Cause dogs and cats to live together? Mass hysteria? Lol.

If you try to boot the games on the realNAND it will give you a pop up telling you to redownload the game. As for the DLC, for me there's a menu option on the Dual Destinies title screen for "Extras and DLC." It takes you to an in-game store. I bet you just have to finish the first case or something to unlock it.

Ah ok. I thought maybe there was an issue, since the first time it basically locked up the 3ds after closing down the eshop. (black screen, 3ds homepage music playing) 2nd time, it started DDestinies but only let me select "new case". I thought the "extras" would be there at the start. Good to know.

It didn't delete my 3DSware games, but it made them act like they were newly downloaded (when they are wrapped up and you have to unwrap them) but it kept my save data.

It did that with the demos I had downloaded, but they still had the # of uses remaining lowered to where they had been. I thought that was weird, but since I'm probably never going to play those demos, I didn't worry too much.

That tag for uses are savedin the NAND sadly :-( was hoping to be able to reset it with backups but didnt work :-(
