Hacking Where to get a firmware 4.5 or below 3DS XL?

I still think in the US it is very rare to get a 3DS with a 2012 copyright on the box that is over 4.5......how the hell is it possible, unless Nintendo is putting newer 3DS is 2012 boxes, or someone is returning an updated unit. There was no 5.x in 2012 so anything truly manufatured and boxed in 2012 can not be 5.x. We have less base color choices in the US and I am not sure if Nintendo has even produced many blue/black or red/black units in 2013. If you get pink or black or any of the 2013 special edition XLs then they are very likely going to be 5.x or up......stick to red or blue black and a 2012 box and you are almost guarenteed to get a 4.x unit....just got one myself in early November.

So glad i went through all this to get my 4.4. Freaking loving the benifts.

You gotta try stores that don't sell too many 3ds units.. I know it will get even harder with the holidays.. I got mine at my local walmart, lucky it isn't a well known wealthy area, which I think it helps (as well as not being on sale compared to when target had them on sale).

This post has all the visual info on what types of 3ds and xl both with 2012 on the box (this post helped me get my 3ds xl ;p ) . There is no serial database for the 3ds but lower the number with 2012 on the box is a good bet. Check older stores or with alot of 3ds they are better bets.

I'm not really sure what you mean when you are saying serial number and SWxxxxx but I got a cosmos black 3DS with (C) 2012 Nintendo, and it was on firmware 4.4

So, im curious if you can recognize if a regular 3ds, not the XL has a firmware lower than 4.5. Since SW12XX applies to the 3DS XL, the serial number on the 3ds box looks like CWXXXX and the one i found is like CW 42XX.

How can I be completely sure it is less than 4.5?

We would need data from people reporting their serial and the firmware it came with. I believe no one has done that yet for the regular 3DS.

What's your Nintendo Serial Number? It should be on the back of your 3DS starting with CW.

Hi I am wondering if somebody can help me, I have just purchased 2 Nintendo 3DS-XL's from Tesco.

The serial numbers are SUH-10263xxxxx without me opening the boxes and breaking the seal, are they likely to have lower than v 4.5 firmware on them?

Be brave, open them up and report back^^ The number is low enough to have a good FW but SUH is something new I'd like to add to my list.

It has firmware 4.4 - 0.0.1 or something

But 4.4

It came from Tesco

i went to my local walmart and got a red 3ds xl with serial sw11xxxxx, it had firmware 4.4. surprisingly the blue 3ds xl had a serial sw40xxxxx. i'm guessing people bought the blue one more because the box of the one i bought was dusty. I went to several stores and many had them with serial sw14xxxxx.
