You read that right: Telltale may soon be making A Game of Thrones a game for drones.

IGN has learned from multiple sources that Telltale Games is developing a game based on George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones.

It’s worth noting that, while “Game of Thrones” is the title of HBO’s series based on Martin’s books, the series itself is actually known as A Song of Ice and Fire, and the first book is titled A Game of Thrones. It’s currently unclear what title Telltale will be using for its game, and whether the storyline will be based on the show, books, or something entirely new.

We reached out to Telltale and received the following statement from Steve Allison, SVP of Publishing:
“We get these sorts of rumors about what we could be working on next cropping up all the time. Officially we have no comment.”
:arrow:IGN

Telltale is one of the last few developers really pushing the adventure game genre forward. Their recent adaptation of The Walking Dead was a smashing success, and their recent take on Fables with "A Wolf Among Us" has been received pretty positively so far. For such a narrative based franchised, Telltale certainly isn't a bad choice.

Will it be better than the Cyanide RPG (better titled "A Song of Dice and Ire")? Only time will tell-tale.

A lot of games that were based on films/television shows were pretty bad and were just milking the license. My opinion of course. :P I won't be holding my breath.

So long as this game actually has dragons and zombies, not the "they're coming" part, and doesn't focus on "gay wieners ", I might actually give it a try. In the meantime, Telltale, please give us more Clem and Bigby soon. Please! Pretty please!

On the original game having not played it I can not say either way but I got the impression it was not bad but nothing anybody will remember in a decade were it not connected to GOT, of course I have something of a fondness for middle of the road action games (probably why I liked the 360 half as much as I did) so I will have to actually play it.

Maybe then I'll actually get interested in Game of Thrones.

What is not to love as it stands?

It literally hasn't interested me one bit. I haven't watched an episode but I have no urge to. I actually wanna watch Arrested Development or Doctor Who first.

Have you played a TellTale tile yet? Have you even read the post Gahars made?
TellTale isn't just a 'milking' producer, they put a lot of effort in their adventure games and they are really well made. You could so easily make the Walking Dead game a zombie survival shooter, but they didn't, no, they made an entire new storyline with interesting characters, a great story and it looks very nice too.

ZombiU was a better Walking Dead game than the one Activision published.

I can recommend the series. Before I watched one, I was sceptical ("ugh...some medieval series? No thanks"), but I was proven wrong VERY quickly. The dialogs are top notch (and acted brilliantly by pretty much the whole cast), the story is and remains interesting well into the third season (and probably beyond) and is exceptionally believable despite many plot twists.

...but as for a game...erm...I have to admit I recently got a free game of thrones game in a humble bundle (the warner brothers one). I had never heard of it and haven't found time to even install it. But...there certainly is one.

If telltale games does their quality work on this series (of books) the same way as they did for the walking dead, I'd be VERY interested. :)

So far the current Game of Thrones games have been pretty dicks, here's hoping a Telltale version is actually good. Would be pretty interesting if it goes more into the back stories that the show doesn't, the Game of Thrones lore is actually fairly interesting.

Of course I read his post, it would be stupid to post without reading what the thread is about. But I admit I have not played a TellTale game. Even though I have heard nothing but good things about their Walking dead game, that doesn't mean future videogames based on television shows/films will be good (not to mention TellTale's game was based on the comics, not the show). When I see a videogame adaptation of a film/television series in the making, I just assume it'll be shit, because I can't think of any modern movie videogames that were good. But I guess you're right in the fact that this game has a better studio working on it than for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead:_Survival_Instinct . Plus, I do hope you're right about this game, because I think GoT is an O.K. show and I'm interested in what a studio can do with a game based on its world. But as with all film/television show videogames, I won't have high expectations.

The concept of shows/films being made games isn't what makes them bad, it's that they're made by shitty developers or on a crappy budget and get rushed through just to try make a few $ based on the name alone.
It's horribly ignorant to just automatically assume every title based on a show is bad, especially when you've never even tried a TellTale game. Their stuff is top-notch, and chances are it wont just be a straight adaptation of the TV show, considering what they did with The Walking Dead.

@Xdqwerty, People who create revival services for the Wii end up in disaster, same goes for Pretendo lol.

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.

    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
