Hold on. As someone who has been using Brawl hacks for a long time, but hasn't looked at the hacking community in a long time. I have a question: How are they able to have 2 new character slots (Mewtwo and Roy) without losing old characters/using the old clone engine mode of holding R on a GC controller when choosing a character? did they figure out that ARF engine?

They've done some insane ASM hacking as far as I know, I believe they have are plan on overcoming the games limitations.

This might help.
Looks interesting though, I'll probably give it a spin when it's released. I've gotten completely used to Brawl over time though, so it might be a bit too fast for me :P

Kickass, I was hoping they'd do this. I hear its still limited to the 7 slots of the supposedly shelved characters. don't know how true that is, but if so, kick ass!

I don't know about the behind-the-scenes work, but they did many things that Nintendo didn't really care about, they even removed tripping, which was useless to begin with. That reminds me, I should start up my Brawl hacking again (model imports mostly) :P

If you read the link I posted, you'll find out that they are indeed limited to 7 new characters at most, but that they probably won't reach that because of the sheer amount of work it is to create a new character.

Yeah its too bad the Project M team is limiting themselves to trophies in the game and planned but shelved characters. I would love for the Geno character that was created for hacked brawl to be a character we could select.

I kind of want the Elite Beat Agents to be playable. There's a trophy for them :D
Also, it's not so much that they're limiting themselves, they're limited in what they can do without being C&D'd.

See, I understand that, but I really do doubt Nintendo would throw a C&D at them. There are plenty of Brawl and Wii hacking sites in general that Nintendo doesn't even bother with.

I'd go about adding Geno or whatever myself, but it sounds like hacking in the 7 extra spots is much harder than other brawl hacking and it wont be a long while before they reveal to the general public how to do it themselves (if they ever reveal so).

The problem is, there's a ton of issues to deal with if you want to add an extra character. It's not just something that can be done easily. Even if you ignore all the file corruption issues that appear and assume you have perfected versions of all the tools they use, just designing a usable 3D model of the character and editing all of his animations and attacks is an insane amount of work. And even after that, balancing still needs to happen.
And even if a C&D is unlikely, they wouldn't want to take the risk. One C&D letter is all it takes for basically four years of work to go poof.

I understand all of this, but some models have been made for a long time now, like Geno. There are at least 2 unique movesets for the Geno model (I have one in my hacked Brawl), and he seems pretty balanced, but maybe in the right hands he is broken, I don't know. But I think the bulk of the work for the character (among many other character models) is already done (if you haven't you should check out the brawlvault at kc-mm.com, they have tons of character imports, new movesets with animations, stages, etc.).

Regardless, I guess my point is, I hope they do allow us to make use of the 7 extra slots if we wish, it may be time consuming, but i'd be willing to follow step by step instructions to implement already developed new characters like Geno.

Just watched the video. Infrickingcredible. 9.9/10

Had to deduct .1 point because Lyn from Fire Emblem is a trophy instead of a playable character. Hmph!

;)
