Hacking How do i update r4i Gold 3DS (r4ids.cn) for 6.3.0 12U?

I downloaded the kernel on their site and installed it on to the root of my SD card, but i keep getting a screen that says that i have to hold the power button to turn off my 3DS (same screen you'd get by starting up the r4i gold without any files on it). I have no idea what to do now

you don't. you have to buy a new R4 clone.


They moved to a "your no longer entitled to any more updates" mentality. You want a working R4 clone flashcart on the latest 3DS firmware means your buying a new R4 clone cart.


This is why R4 clones, ALL OF THEM, are not recommended in the first place.

chrisluna413, you need to borrow a NDSi, a NDSL or a 3DS whose version is under 6.3 to complete the updating process.
It's the same for almost all flashcards.

well no, that's not true. i've seen plenty of forums stating that my flashcart's pretty damn good. most claim it's the second best (best of all being the DSTwo).

Depending on what firmware you're coming off of you may have to cut a trace in the R4 PCB. Instructions and files should be on their website.

I'm on the latest firmware for the 3DS and r4i gold 3DS

Well if you haven't cut the line you're probably going to have to do that, plus find a DS or 3DS on a compatible firmware to update it.
