I don't know where you read this but it is BS.
I softmodded my Wii U near launch and I have been keeping it up to date ever since, not once has any of my homebrew been affected.

What firmware are you on? If you're system is refusing to update via Wi-Fi, you will need to buy a game disc to update with, as the update is becoming corrupt when downloading. I had this issue with 2.0.0 to 2.1.0, and it was due to the update not downloading correctly, and I tried 5 times! I got Wario Ware, and the on-disc update worked the first time.

First off, it's not firmware. I'm tired of people calling the System Menu on the Wii and Wii U "firmware". Second, he never even answered my question. From the look of it, he hasn't even tried updating.

I recently had the 162-0002 error on my modded wii u, and I tried everything to get it to update. I wiped everything (Which is stupid and doesn't work, don't try this), I took it to a friend's house for a different network, and I even tried the google DNS solution and nothing worked. I did manage to finally update when I used a disk update from a Wii U game. From all the research that I've done, this problem is most likely caused by a corrupted update file that doesn't get cleared when you try and update again, so it keeps using that corrupted file. I'm still not sure on how you manage to clear this update file...

It's certain IOS that need to be deleted, not update data.

PM me if you would like me to help you fix it! it is very easy to fix!

My wii u had this problem because of the homebrew. I reset the thing and everything but there was no fix (I got an error code on updating). I traced it back and it was because I of the homebrew but this is a problem of the past and you should be safe now. I ended up having to get another one (which on my tight budget was a pain) however I still have an old one for homebrew and other hacks. I am waiting for an exploit for the wii u to be released so we can bypass the nintendo update system and then hopefully I can get it back in working order then sell it on through ebay to get some of those much valued pounds back. There may be a fix for your situation as I had a different error code or you might just have to wait/get another. Unlucky mate and I hope you get it sorted without having to get another.

May I have a chance if I softmod my Wii U then update Wii U system ? Or I must remove softmod then update ?
Softmodding doesn't prevent updating. Some people have been unable to update, and a percentage of them have had softmods. There isn't a relation.

Wasnt this already solved some time ago?
I remember, you just have to use another router or go to a friends place and use his internet connection, because some routers just always corrupted the file, no matter, what you did...
I'm not entirely sure, if that's true, I just remember reading about someone solving it like this.

I know that solved it for some people.

Yes, almost a year ago on a German forum they solved this problem by deleting 4 specific IOS and it works. I know this because my Wii U with that error code was fixed by doing what they said.

By the way, I never said I would only help in a PM. I said PM me if you want help. It is cool, man. I have reported you for trying to spread rumors that I am trying to brick people's Wii U's.

Seems people in these threads got it fixed this way as well.

or did you have to find a used one with the lower firm ware that was not updated

I got this ps4 at launch and never updated since 9.0

You got a good chance of buying a used one and asking the seller how often they used or even ask for a Pic of fw and telling them not to update

Speaking of PLaystation. I see Evilnat put out a beta for PS3 CFW 4.91.2 on the 22nd.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Don't really see the point in updating it tbh
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right, I thought about updating my PS3 CFW to 4.91, but why really, everything plays fine now. I guess for people that have already updated past 4.9 it would be helpful.

Thats true, personally I don't play it online at all, in fact, I deleted all wifi details on it once I installed CFW, so it won't connect and auto-update itself
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I play most games that are on both PS3/360 strickly on the 360, but PS3 exclusives are really only games I play on the PS3 (You know me, I'm more of a Xbox junkie)
