(1) Buy Capcom. They're about to go under anyway. It's time to start putting some of those billions to use. I think it's getting to a point where gamers need more exclusive reasons to own a Nintendo home console, and that would be the impetus for most of my decision making. If you want to play Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, Mega Man, Street Fighter, Okami, Dragon's Dogma, Viewtiful Joe, Strider, Breath of Fire, Etc., well, you have to buy a Nintendo console.

(2) Make a strong effort to make the WiiU THE RPG machine. Going back a couple of months, I would have bought Atlus. It's a genre that still has a sizable, and worthwhile fan base (especially in Japan). Having Monolith Soft (X) and Atlus (Persona 5) in the stable would be a very nice start, but it certainly wouldn't end there. I'd get Sega on the move with Skies of Arcadia 2, commission Konami to work on Suikoden 6, get localization deals on Namco's Tales of series, get Level-5 thinking about another Dark Cloud game, make another Shadow Hearts or Tactics Ogre possible, etc.

(3) I would approach Square Enix to fully fund a Final Fantasy 7 remake AND a new Final Fantasy Tactics for the WiiU. Also ask for a Kingdom Hearts 3 port, even if they have to pay for it themselves. It's bad that a major game like that is skipping the Wii U.

(4) Find high-end developers to work on new sports franchises for the WiiU. This would be taking a page from the Sega handbook on what to do when EA wants no part of you.

(5) Get Gamefreak to work on that Wii U Pokemon game that every fan has wanted for years, but hasn't gotten yet. There isn't a better time than now to make that happen already. I don't care if it's just a follow up to colosseum/XD. Just give us something.

(6) Make F-Zero, Star Fox, Metroid, Earthbound, and Kid Icarus on the WiiU happen, while taking a 2 year break on anything Mario. Let's bring other Nintendo IP to the forefront for a few years. If a break isn't possible, then I'd be okay with them keep making mario games as long as it doesn't take away resources from different games.

(7) Market the hell out of just about everything that's going on and coming out.

You start putting all of these exclusive games together with Nintendo IP, and you've really got something on your hands that is very difficult to ignore. Even if you're missing out on most 3rd party multi-plats, you're still getting many notable franchises that would be unique to the WiiU. If Nintendo did something like this, it would be epic. And ensure that Wii U was a success. Anyone agree?

Even though it gets annoying for less casual Nintendo fans, Mario IS pretty much Nintendo's top or second most selling franchise (Pokemon is the other). I doubt less Mario games would mean more sales.

Some good points here I would buy a WiiU if it had more RPG's

Though I lack the time and desire to find some numbers I have to wonder how much of that is "what would make nice games" and not "what would make good business".

1) Capcom going under? That's news to me. I agree though, they produce a lot of quality games, making all those games Ninty exclusive would get the interest of a lot of people.

2) Indeed the Wii needs more RPGs. It hardly has any.

3) I would love a Final Fantasy 7 remake but with the recent PC rerelease I doubt they would be very willing to make one right now as it would take away from sales of that if there was a superior version released on another platform.

4) I couldn't care less about sports games but it may be a good idea business-wise.

5) Agreed on Wii U Pokemon, I'd love another spinoff in the veins of Colosseum/XD (Mostly XD as it had far more Pokemon to catch, actually had wild Pokemon, and a bigger world), though it probably wouldn't be made by Game Freak, none of the other home console games have been. This will probably happen, but it may be another game like Stadium or Pokemon Battle Revolution. I hope it's more than just that.

6) They have already all but confirmed F-Zero won't happen, The Mother series did not seem to gain enough interest for a Mother 3 localization so I doubt another sequel will happen or that it would be worth the investment, Metroid will happen eventually, Kid Icarus is plausible. A break from Mario not so much but there are different teams working on different games most likely.

7) Indeed, I saw a lot of ads for the Wii U when it first came out but nowadays not so much. Marketing the upcoming games like Super Mario 3D World would be good right about now. And in Q1 2014, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Mario Kart 8 should be marketed as well.

ninty focuses on kid too much,, they need to make a mature title too for other audiences

Nintendo is a family company dude, always have been, always will.

I never understood this, why is it that Nintendo has to make a mature title, but yet nobody bitches about Disney only making family titles?

They literally have like, no money to even afford shit. They already said they don't have the resources to make a next gen game... which is the fancy way of saying "we're fucking broke".

i like the ideas
but break on mario i dont think will be good idea
most ppl buy nintendo mainly cuz of mario&zelda&smash
but maybe hire some more ppl and make a Team Super Mario (like sega has with Sonic)
so they dont needing to take break from mario
1 thing they basely needing to do is more 3rd party games
like a new Dragonball Z game: battle of the Z is coming for PS3/xbox360 but even skipping the wiiU and instead getting a PSvita version
so i know its not the power of the consoles that is the problem(unless a PSvita is more powerfull then a wiiU)
and its not 3rd party support since namco has made games for wii U and even helping with smash 4
so yeah basely No reason at all for 3rd party games skipping the Wii U(or 3ds)

Disney do not just make family titles -- they own Touchstone Pictures and did own Miramax Films until 2010.

Some of Disney's children movies also have mature themes and messages. Anyway, Metroid, Star Fox, and even Earthbound could be considered "mature games" but Nintendo seemed to have abandoned those franchises in favor of Mario and Zelda. Mature games don't need to have blood or violence, but just need to have intense gameplay suited for older and more experienced players.

Agreed. This is where acquiring capcom comes in. They'd get resident evil, devil may cry, dragon's dogma. Plus they already have bayonetta.

It's true. Here are some links.

It would make good business because it would give people a hell of a good reason to own a Wii U. Must have exclusives games.

Must have exclusives games.

Is that really the best way to set about it these days? However I am all for game exclusivity ending (and software devs seem to be working to make it happen) so I probably need to sit down and consider it a bit more before I go too far into that.

Edit. As for Capcom. No argument they are in a dire position but going under might be a stretch.

Kid Icarus fits in that category IMO, and it's pretty recent. I don't think they've given up on Metroid but it may take some time until we see a new game in that franchise, Earthbound never sold and Star Fox, I don't really know what happened to that.

That's not Disney themselves making them though. Disney bought Marvel, but Marvel is the one who makes the movies.

The Walt Disney Studios is the parent company and often a financier for the films, depending upon how they turn out they might switch distribution studios to conform to various images, to that end I absolutely can not get on board with that sentiment. I do not know the Marvel setup but leaving companies a measure of autonomy within your corporation is hardly a novel concept (if nothing else it makes things somewhat easier to sell them down the road), similarly you can bet they are getting good rates on otherwise expensive CGI/sound/sets and can leverage the Disney name in negotiations.
