Ya got your shared networks backwards.

You need to share your internet connection (Ethernet) with your virtual hotspot (Local Area Connection* 15). Also, for future reference, you'll probably need to reshare every time you reboot your computer...I have to at least.

In my case, the adapter would remain disabled in the device manager and I'd need to re-enable in manually. Once that happened, depending on the adapter/drivers, a restart would be required, or the dongle needed to be unplugged/replugged in order for the MAC change to take effect.

I struggled with using adapters for a long time before I just went and picked up a DD-WRT compatible router for $45 and set it up as a second hotspot.

I have a Sanoxy now... I have it working, but not perfectly; I can get it to connect and give me a streetpass, but as soon as I make the final changes to get it working, I lose all means of connecting to it again, and have to literally reset it and change all the settings by hand to the next relay number. I'm probably missing some sort of obvious setup step, but at least I'm up and running... if anyone else with a Sanoxy can help me out, it would be much apprecciated.

so i have an interesting issue. I dont get a streetpass until I actually open Nintendo zone...it doesn't connect which is whatever, but then when I close out of the zone, i get the streetpass....and even then I still haven't managed to get more than one streetpass without starting the whole thing over... I'm using the mac cycle 1.2 joint, but yeah I dunno... this is weird ... all I want is pink puzzle pieces :(

There's really no lingo here. As I recommended with the guide on page 62... Go slow and step by step and test everything to make sure you have the basics in place before moving on. What parts of the setup have you done (and verified) which step are you stuck on. This is literally a 5 minute setup.

What do you get when you run: macshift -i "YOUR WIFI CONNECTION NAME"* macaddress** (MACSHIFT... not maccycle... maccycle wont work until you have everything setup right and macshift is working).

Sure there's lingo, but I won't argue. Quick note about the screenshot posted earlier before continuing - I wasn't trying your directions at that point. I was still trying to do the setup as directed on the first page of the thread, so of course it wouldn't match up with your directions.

Moving on, I'll re-install the standard drivers for my wireless card and then try your directions again from scratch. I'll edit this post with my results after each step to see where the problem is.

1. Open the Network Connections window and note the name of the actual Wifi adapter. (I renamed mine to Wi-Fi for ease./) Done. Mine will be named "Wireless Card"
2. Open a cmd prompt with elevated admin premissions Done.
3. Type "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=attwifi key=PASSWORD" (no quotes, and obviously pick your password). Done.
4. Type "netsh wlan start hostednetwork" Done.
5. Now look at the network connection window. there's a new "virtual NIC present". I strongly recommend you rename it.. (I called mine 3ds). Done. The virtual card is named "3DS Point", attwifi already shows up beneath it. It is defined as a "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #4" on my machine.
6. Right click on your physical NIC (the one from step 1) and hit properties. Click the sharing tab. Click the "Allow other network users to connect though this..." and click ok. When doing this, I am not allowed to just click "OK" after checking the instructed box. An error message comes up saying that I must select a specific connection from the list of available connections. I am going to assume that I should choose the virtual miniport "3DS Point" and move on to the next step.
7. Note now, The physical NIC will show it's "Shared" and the virtual NIC will show the "attwifi" sid. The attwifi label was already showing under the virtual card, as I mentioned above. Not sure if this changes anything, or just means the connections remembered their settings from my previous attempts last night.
8. Just change the MAC address for the NIC in step 1 above, and restart the hostednetwork (rerun step 4). That's it.. a few minutes and the 3ds gets a hit. Rinse and repeat. This step is too vague for me to comfortably try to continue. I'd appreciate exact instructions on how I should be changing the MAC address in this step. I'll leave the process at step 7 until I get clarification on step 8.

Oh yeah, I had a problem with macshift not working unless it was in the root of the C:\ drive.

I've moved the macshift folder to the C:\ root, in case the same problem may have been affecting my setup.

So I'm using my family's mac since its the only apparently capable piece of hardware in the house (unless anybody has this working on a galaxy s3) and i got stuck on the terminal steps because it wouldn't change the MAC address, i took a screenshot of what i did there. I'm using an older iOS i think, its got airport instead of Wi-Fi. Also, as far as the network connections go when i have everything set up like the guide says the airport is green and the ethernet is orange/yellow.

I've got it pretty much set up on my W7 laptop. The DS can see the SSID (which of course will trigger the NZ notification), but I can't connect to it at all. After some digging, I found my hostednetwork's MAC is always set to my actual WiFi adapter's original address. I can flip my card's MAC without issue. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the software, the problem persists. I've also made sure to run the command prompt as an admin (though it shouldn't matter since I keep UAC disabled at all times anyway).

My WiFi card and Ethernet port are both Realtek. Any ideas?

I tried to do everything like that, but with no response =/

these are my devices which i could do something to HomePass:

Linksys WRT54G (veeeery old one)
Samsung Galaxy Ace
WBN 240 Wireless Adaptor (Atheros Dongle)

People, I have been reading this thread and it seems that using anything other than Linux or a router is very user unfriendly. If you really want to use this, just buy a cheap router that is capable of running this on DD-WRT and use it as an Access Point, prices lay around the €/$20 and remember that you pay more for a single game, while you get a lot more than most games give you. It is well worth it if you really want to get this working and play with it, if you are done with it, you can always sell the router. This is my advice to you all!

What version WRT54G is it? You can see it at the back of the router, something like v3.2

v.3.4 beta script is out with Ubuntu support!
Thanks to dicamarques for Ubuntu testing. Now if you're lucky to have a compatible WiFi adapter there is no need to do all the stuff from the first page to get HomePass working.

Using build 22118 of DDWRT on my Asus RT-N10+ B1. Still can't get duke_srg's scripts to work. Is it because the router is using RALINK RT3050F as its chipset? Is there a way to convert the script to work with this chipset? I'm not very savvy with linux, so could someone help with the script?

Try loading defaults and set it up again, if that doesn't work, do a 30/30/30 reset, I found that that helped me out a few times.
