Misc Has anyone attempted to abuse the Nintendo Zone streetpass relay?

I just have a W7 laptop and I'm sure I have a spare router too.

Just go here and chek whether your spare router support DD-WRT firmware.

Here's something I found out.
You cannot streetpass someone twice through the Streetpass relay station in the same "batch."
I tested this with two 3ds'. I would let one seed the relay first, then try to get that streetpass with the second 3ds. The first relay mac I tested, my second 3ds streetpassed fine. The second relay mac, my second 3ds would connect, but not gain a streetpass.
Useful for anyone who is chaining streetpasses. If someone else had the same idea and seeded the same relays before you, you might have to clear your streetpasses between attempting to connect again.

If you are playing with linux this is not really a compatible wifi card thing so much as download whatever software you want (or use the command if you already have it) -- https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MAC_Address_Spoofing , it is for Arch linux which is a noted highly customisable one but the same should apply to everything else if you want it to. If you are spoofing/changing in hardware it might get more difficult as some will still want to belong to the same brand or something ( http://www.macvendorlookup.com/ has a list of what brands have what part of the mac address space) and later versions of windows are apparently more fiddly but that is a different matter.

Just did and got a hit (not sure if from you or someone else, since I open my 3DS for a second to let the green light disappear (this way I can see if/when I get a new hit better))

Alright, just to clarify, has ANYBODY gotten an Android hotspot successfully spoofed without access to the NVRAM file (as many new smartphones, S4 in this case, do not have such a file)? If so, could you please post how you did it? Spoofing apps will only work when the hotspot has already been enabled, or they will immediately force the wifi on, knocking the hotspot off.

Have you S4 rooted? You can try enable AP and then run

ifconfig wlan0 down
icfonfig wlan0 hw ether 40:53:50:4F:4F:46
ifconfig wlan0 up

Me. I edited the config file. It will reset when you reboot though.
Btw no one play rumble blast?

Which "config" file are you referring to? As far as I can tell, there's no way on the S4 through file editing to change your MAC. The ifconfig method through busybox appears to be the only method, and that only lasts until the wlan0 connection is turned off.

Got it working on my Sony Xperia S. I did it like KaleoOmega

The only that works for me is Root Browser (search for this in Play Store).
After you edit the .nvmac.info file inside the "data" folder with proper MAC, kepp only the "Read" fields checked, then save.

But on my phone there was no .nvmac.info file. So i did a little browsing (i use ES Datei Explorer btw.) until i found a file called "fw" in /data/etc/wifi/ with just my mac address inside.

If you have something different try searching all your "wifi" folders on your phone for a file with your mac address inside. Some guides say you need to turn wifi off to find the file.

You know its working if your phone shows the spoofed mac under Settings->About Phone->Status

And you can use wpa2 psk too!

I get a hit in a few seconds after turning 3Ds Wifi on. No longer than 1-2 Minutes.

Yesterday i only got hits on 46 and 47. KaleoOmega from USA Wyoming and Signz from Germany. Today i got Miis from all mac's

Diogo from Portugal (two times), Vidnez from Canada, Signz again and Katsup from USA.

I see one problem in this mac cycling thing. If you cycle trough, you register your mii to every mac adress and the next user only get one hit because its all the same mii on every adress. I think the fact that i met Diogo twice totay was because i got him first, played with him in Mii plaza and collected then 4 more Miis, including him again. But we need some more input on my thoughts. Maybe i'm wrong.

Well once the configuration is nailed down for Windows only users (Because they will have the most issues it seems), I would not be surprised if certain game communities setup their own mac mainly for them. ie: 46,47 for General/Everyone 48 for Animal Crossing 49 for Fire Emblem/EO4 etc...
