Hacking NEED TO GET EZ FLASH IV

It varies depending upon what you feel like doing.

For the lite deluxe it is the same as a DS lite dust cover so you have a tab coming off the side of it and a ridge along the top. Remove the tab and file the ridge and it will fit any GBA slot. You will need something to remove it though, I usually suggest attaching a piece of ribbon to pull it out. Depending upon where you get it from you might even get several cases to play with though I would not expect it.

Others have taken to finding a throwaway GBA game, tradition dictates the suggestion be Barbie Horse adventures though it is by no means special, and mod that to fit the EZ4 PCB. This is harder as you will have to find some way of retaining and positioning the PCB, possibly including accommodating the chips.

A few others have attached an extended section to the case and made it effectively a full size GBA cart.

The original EZ4 lite is like a shrunken GBA cart so you just file the ridge and attach a ribbon.

Alternatively I guess you could mod the GBA slot. It is just plastic in the cases of the GBA, the SP and the DS (I have no GBM or GB player I can take a look at right now) and there will still be enough of it left to hold in everything it needs to.

Would it work if you plugged it into a GBA Action Replay and used that as a pass through? Sounds hella easier and neater than carving away chunks of plastic but I don't want to recommend it since I have no idea if it will work.

Yeah the EZTeam did originally propose what they called the EZ-Mugen which was a straight passthrough (it never came to pass as people were abandoning their original DS' for the lite in droves). I have heard of it before though, the action replays and flash cards never tended to work with each other as far as having the AR functionality work though so most tended not to bother.

True. I received a package from China that only took a week. I don't know if the seller chose a faster shipping or what, but it was free shipping. Hopefully.

So technically you can just remove the innards of the EZ 4 Lite Deluxe and fix it into a GBA cartridge securely and it should work as well as the EZ 4, with perks of larger NOR memory space? I can't find any photos/pictures/threads about the modding..

Yes. You also have larger ram (256Mbit) so every dumped GBA game will fit into it.

They were years ago I am afraid -- much like many seem to clamour to have their DS flash carts working on the DSi and 3ds rather than just getting a DS lite there was a similar rush to abandon the GBA line and original DS for the DS lite, though this had some more merit by virtue of the nicer screens.

For the most part though if you can sand, file and use superglue/epoxy resin it it not a hard thing -- the EZ4 lite deluxe has a inset where the inset on the GBA cart is and there is a bevel at the top where the screw/screw holder plastic is to sort the rest (naturally this does not exist in original GBA carts hence the superglue part).

I can do those. I'll be able to fiddle with it and I have bootleg GBA shells I'm willing to destroy in the name of Mod.

I don't think EZ IVs will be instock any time soon on Ali (Last seen USD 50) or RHS (USD 35).... but there's that one site with the Deluxe but it'll set me back by a sum of USD 70+ post shipping. Is it worth buying or should I just wait? Stocks are so unpredictable.. >.>

How many people have tried it though? Is the system/software/patching 100% like EZ IV after it's secured in a GBA cart shell? It may be possible to splurge for it, but if it's not very workable, I don't want to dump my money on the Deluxe.

I guess the price can be justified by thinking along the lines of Micro instead of Mini and the bigger memory space. Is the Micro spring loaded? Slow down comparable or better than IV ? o:

The only difference you will see is that the bigger than 16 megs ROM images will happily load to PSRAM by default.

No spring loaded microSD (given the catapulty nature of older spring loaded microSD slots that is probably for the best). Indeed I do not think anything the EZTeam ever made was spring loaded.

There is no flash cart induced slow down on any GBA cart running GBA games that is not a supercard, supercard clone or one of the first things that was a tweaked GBC cart -- it is why most people when discussing GBA flash carts will take the time to dismiss supercards outright.

Super card is my final desperate option. ): I'm really late into the whole GBA scene. I just got an SP. I never had one. (I think I overpaid though argh...) Played my brother's GBC and my own DSlite.
I just checked the conversion of USD 70.. It's SGD 100. Oh dear.. The price of the SP. And I'm eyeing this purple micro.

Just one last thing, so you assure me that the modded Deluxe will definitely work on the GBA? Have you done it?

Yes it will work, I lent my cameras to people so it will be some awkward setups with my webcam if you really want pictures. Still I have modded original EZ4 lites to fit, I have modded lite deluxes to fit and used them as my primary GBA slot devices for some time. Indeed I have never actually owned a DS lite.

I would be curious if there's a place I could get them cheaper, though ... maybe without the EZ Pass 3 included (don't want to sound cheap ... but I'm just broke ) since using it for DS games seems kinda silly when it can only take a 2gb chip and a basic DS only, 2gb only flash cart you can get in about $2.

Any places that still sell the EZ-flash IV are few and far between- and those that exist generally sell clones. If the rare chance arises that they are real, they are hella expensive. The fact that they are incredibly hard to obtain now is the point I was trying to make. If nothing comes up in a google search, or any type of investigation, you're out of luck.
