I am seriously consider getting the 3ds xl because of the screen but I am debating should I sell my ambassador 4.4 unit for it. If I trade it in to gamestop i can get like 100 credit for my system. I don't care about ambassador status all that much since my psp can do all the emulator of the gba and gb game there.

Also, is it hard to seek a 3ds xl that is 4.5 firmware nowday? With getaway comign out it is tempting but I want to play Phoneix wright 5 too lol. Please advice

If you wanted the most out of a sale, I'd recommend eBay, where Ambassador status can actually net you like an extra $20 or so. I sold an Ambassador 3DS with a battery accessory for $200 a few months ago. Don't do a Gamestop trade, they'll rip you off really good. And as far as a 3DS XL with 4.5, I did Amazon and got a pre 4.5 unit, and if you're concerned, try retailers that don't sell a ton of stock in your area.

Best of luck with the sale, and let me know if I can help you further. :)

why don't you just system transfer all your ambasador stuff onto the 3DS XL. as far as i know it's possible.

If he plans on getting the GW3DS he can't. In order to system transfer both 3DS' have to be on the latest firmware. (Which is why it requires an internet connection.) Plus as he mentioned he doesn't care about Ambassador status, so he'd get a few extra bucks for it.

As long as you don't get a Pikachu edition 3DS XL you'll be fine, as no one has got another US 3DS XL new with firmware higher than 4.5.

My advice:
Get an XL and do a System Transfer, then you get to keep ambassador status.

For the Gateway3DS (if you decide you want one), I would wait for 6.x compatibility then get one VS getting a 4.5 XL and never updating it (you can once 6.x compatibility is achieved but you also would not have ambassador status as you can't do the transfer without updating and the ambassador 3ds would have been sold by the time this happens). there is a 99.9% chance Pokemon X/Y and other good games coming out later will require you to update to 6.x firmware. since Gateway cannot bypass these updates, the closest you will get to playing these games will be staring at the 3d "banner" of the game from the 3ds menu.

That's assuming of course gateway ever achieves 6.x compatibility, which is doubtful. Why people give so much faith to an unproven team baffles me.

I would do what Ryu said and sell it on ebay if you don't have any other eshop stuff. You would probably get enough for the xl outright or most of it.

Wow, while Gateway DS sure is nice, Ambassador status is much more interesting than playing a couple of ROMs. I'm pretty sure there will be other ways of playing ROMs on your DS in the future, but you won't be able to ever get Ambassador status back.

Why you don't just keep both? I was on a similar situation when the XL was recently launched but at the end of the day I was very happy with both consoles (now 3) and after a System Transfer my Ambassador Status and EShop from my small 3ds ended on the XL.

Dual Destinies is a eShop only game which means that you can't pirate it.
Only the US/EUR Versions are downloads. JAP has it as a physical game that's been dumped already so he can still play Phoenix wright but its Japanese. If he Looks online though he can find the game dialouge translated.
