Just did the village quest - "it's clobbering time". An Agnaktor, Volvidon, and a Rathalos. I intended to capture all three. Was wearing Pleisoth armour, and wielding the dios slicers. The agnaktor was giving me trouble, and just slapped me silly - I had used 8 potions, and he starts to limp when I'm trying to whack off it's tail. It dies mid-swing, and I end up wandering around until I find the Volvidon. It's in area five, the area with a ton of respawning mining areas. I start wailing on it, and it manages to poop on me. I think I'm in trouble until I see it start drooling. I end up setting up a shock trap, and getting licked in the process (eeeeeeeewww...Volvidon cooties!), and he walks right into it. I toss two tranqs, and he's out like a light. Again, I start wandering the map looking for 'Los. I almost run into Rathian, but it flies off without bothering me. I get annoyed, and I'm hungry and low on stamina. I wander back to base camp, grab a couple of rations of the box, and notice the psychoserums. I end up eating two rations, and taking a nap to restore both kids. I end up taking a psychoserum, and see a vision of the Rathalos entering the watery area of the volcano. I shake off the effects and run into the area. Right now I'm thinking...oh shit, because if it calls the Rathian, I don't have any antidotes on me. I fight 'Los for a while and get annoyed at the fact that it isn't limping at all. Just as the clock hits the thirty minute mark, I end up taking it out with a strike that removes it's tail. I then carve the tail, just to find mega potions...

I'm absent-mindedly checking the almost full rewards screen, when I notice a new icon on the rewards. It's red and I think, "Oh, a Rathalos part? Cool." I check it out, and it's a Rathalos Ruby. Now why can't I get a single freaking Brachy gem? (I want to make Dios Slicers+ and the skirt piece of armour!)

@ Moczan - lower rank DS have terrible sharpness. I was using Great Wroggi armour up 'til HR village. (It has razor sharp - which takes reduces the need to sharpen.) Right now I'm saving up for Brachy armour and probably gemming in more sharpener skills or similar.

if im not mistaken, I got a few dios gems from doing the DLC "colorful beasts" quest. brachydios is the freehunt monster, with narga, los, and zinogre. he shows up in area 5. again carves only grant mega potions from 3 monster hunts. try getting lucky cat food ability with tanzia ale, it offers item increase for rewards. so you might get multiple gems for one hunt. i think the food combo is dairy+drink, so use what ever is fresh and or gives the lucky cat ability. just watch out for the tipsy effect lol.

It turns out I had Rathalos Plate all the time, so I went and finished the Rathalos set (it still took me 8 kills to get all the Shells). Now I have a full Rathalos armor with few upgrades, a fire wyvern LS and Hammer and Lagiacrus LS and Hammer and I'm ready to go into High Rank!

Rathalos armour is pretty fun. Good luck with HR - and bring some antidotes for your first urgent!

Yeah, HR is going to be fun! Just defeated the Purple Ludroth, I thought that since I have so much good low rank gear I can get cocky with the guy and bam, I fainted I need to freehunt Moga Woods now, I'm down to 300 resources and few old request waiting for me. I've also switched from Nulberries farm to producing Mega Potion since I have more than 200k money now and you can't but those.
Another thing, my significant other is getting her copy of MH3U next week so we will probably play the game daily. What would be the best gameflow with that? Should we just tackle the Port Quests right away and use Village quest as an easier way to farm materials when the other one is not playing atm? I've also heard that only the person who is original quest taker gets to higher Hunter Rank, is it possible t ojust advance on one person's account or do we have to reach Hunter Ranks on both accounts to be able to play together?

I'm just up to HR 3 as well. All I've been doing is fighting main "key quests", and trying not to die.

In other news - I ended up farming Brachy with Ultra Lucky Cat and my Pleisoth armour. Cha-Cha is wearing Mock Melynx, and Kayamba is wearing Unfortunate Mask. I end up fainting once - it stunned me, and then did the horn fireball move. I end up breaking both it's fists and removing it's tail, and I finally see it run towards it's resting place. It's not showing any signs of limping, but I put down a shock trap anyway (he's spending too much time in rage mode), and bam! I catch it...

I check the rewards screen, and it's not much. Just a couple of pounders, ebonshells and other stuff.

I check Cha-Cha - and the little bugger was holding a Dios Gem! I'm starting to like the little tyke!

I made the full set of armour, and then went back to do the Jhen Mohran quest. The good thing is, I'm starting to learn it's scripted actions. I spent most of my time shooting at it, and then wailing on it's back. The first time I jumped onto it's back, I managed to break both it's weak spots and then do some damage. I continue with it, and end up falling off it's back. It starts with the second round, in which it jumps over the ship and attempts to ram it. I do a superman dive, and blast it twice with cannon fire. It then offers it's tusks at the ship, and I climb onto it. I set both anti-dragon bombs, and set them off, as well as do complete damage with my demon dance. It then flinches, and I end up sharpening my blade, and hopping off of the beastie. I end up using the dragonator at the correct time. The last time Jhen lines up with the ship, I end up hopping onto it's back, and then whipping out some demon dances. I hop back off, and grab enough ballista ammo...

First thing I did in the final showdown was fire all my ballista ammo at it. I go collect five more ammos, and then set both of my easy barrel bombs in it's path. Jhen walks up to them, and I set them off by firing a ballista at it. Jhen keels over, and I end up running inside it's mouth to do some extra damage. I fire more of the ammo....and poke him with the dragonator again. By this time, I'm getting annoyed (I heard the Jhen Mohran music, and there's this section that sounds exactly like the "victory music" that plays...). I end up focusing on it's arms, running back and forth to set off the various anti-dragon things. I end up tearing up it's left arm first, and then focused on the right one. It finally dies to my damage, and I managed to just get the body carves off of it.

God, that fight was annoying....

What is a good time to try and take on Deviljho? Is he even killable on 6-star quests or is he like 1-star Lagiacrus and I have to wait for a proper 'Hunt Deviljho" quest?

I just killed my first Plesioth... underwater. I've killed tens of Plesioths before in FU and Dos, but being able to go underwater for them makes them way less bothersome.
It was in the demo, by the way, but hopefully I can buy the full game next week, since I bought my 3DS for this game!

Fluffy mask is great, I'm super lazy so I always have one of my Shakalakas wearing it and I don't even use Paintballs anymore... I hated Qurupeco when I've started, but now I love smacking him with hammer!

What? . I just tripled carted on a brachy (was farming for a brachy gem for upgraded dios slicers), and I went to check Cha-Cha. He's holding a wroggi scale and a brachy gem. Are you *bleeping* kidding me? That has to be the most random thing ever. I had to check my box twice to make sure I had it. Now to farm black diablos for stupid...carapaces. Argh.

I've hunted Plesioth today, it was pretty easy once I've got comfortable with his attacks, still used most of my potion. I'm now going to farm for Volvidon's high rank armor and then I will go back and finish all 6-star quest (I've only did key quest since I wanted access to high rank Volvi asap). Then I will farm what I need from 7 stars and proceed wit Jhen Mohran. I hope the fight is not as boring as Ceadeus's one...
