Updated it immediately last night.

I need eshop access, gateway card isn't all that important to me. I'm in no hurry to get one. Backup of digital saves is handy.

depends what R4 you got lol
theres over 20 different types so you need to be more specific

Space SHMUP, flower collecting, dungeon RPG, and Army battle.

Since I don't own a flashcard and I don't intend getting one I updated.
I live in Europe.
The new features are neat, but I won't buy the new Wii Plaza games because I don't care about them. Well, maybe Mansion, that sounds fun.

I had ONE crash in the plaza when I tried to access the shop and the crash returned me to my System Menu. It fucked up my placement of my games and folders, something my OCD didn't like, but nothng spectacular, really. So far I have yet to experience another crash.

Also, the Notifications said we got a new Puzzle. I got New Super Mario Bros U, not sure if the others (Xenoblade, Princess and Skyward Sword) also make it to us. Would be cool though

Edit: My fiancee has her own 3DS and she recieved a Princesses Puzzle, so it is save to assume that we also got the Xenoblade and Skyward Sword ones

I've been staying on that firmware, with my r4i 3DS Gold card

As long as you keep the flash cart firmware up to date (you can download it from the website), it will work on everything but the very latest 3DS update.
