Figured that, so which card do I have? guessing it may work if I get a rts card?

you just have a Plain one, they only started labling the 3DS ones with versions after v4.5 update compatible

it would work but following there track record i wouldnt use R4i-SDHC.com card
specially due to there kernel is a stolen version of RGF's Kernel

go for the R4ids.cn R4i Gold RTS, its 100% better and they release there updates quickly

Thanks for the help, only thing I'm worried about is buying a 3ds game and being forced to update it.

Really good price. :)

your not forced, it tell you its needs to update to play the game so you can decline it

but it takes a while for the updates to be on the games due to production time

yea that seems about right for that card, there good build quality too
should last you a while hopefully

NES emulators work fine on all modern flash carts.

SNES and GBA suck because the DS is old and weak (and no, a 3DS is not any better since we can only access DS-mode on it). The DSTwo is a cart that has it's own CPU and can thus run better emulation, but it's still not perfect.

I'm having a similar issue with as an R41 3DS SDHC card. Trying to update card to v1.68b. I have 2 3DS's. The first one was accidentally updated to v5.1.0-11u. I have copied the v1.68b files to my sd card. I get the black screen on the first 3DS when the card is inserted. The second 3DS is still on v3.0.0-6u. When i insert the R4 into that one and try to go through the update process I do the following: Click the Config icon, Click the Upgrade icon. Once I'm on the upgrade screen I only see the 'Current Version' section. I do not see the 'New Version' or 'Info' sections. The 'Start' button is also missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Sounds like the cart you have is an older model that can't be updated.

i do seem to remember that the last time I updated the firmware on the card it just did it when i selected the card in the main menu. I don't remember selecting 'config' and 'upgrade', etc... but i could be mistaken. its been a while since I updated the card.
