Let's get this started with what will probably be hell for you guys. I have very little memory of what I did to my Wii to set it up for USB HDD loading. It was a couple of years ago that I did it and since then I'm sure things have moved on at least a bit.

The current backup loader I have is WiiFlow v2.4 and I believe I'm using some variant of IOS249 for backup loading but honestly I am not sure. Truth be told it's probably a complete mess of various things in there. I'm using a FAT32 drive to load everything (homebrew and WBFS loading).

So where should I start for trying to update my current setup? Also am I right in saying GC USB loading is now possible on the Wii?

Edit: Here's my final syscheck log. I tried loading a GC game but it just turned off my console which makes me think that DIOS-MIOS didn't install correctly. If there's anything I should remove then tell me and I will.

Start with using Hackmii installer to install the latest HBC and boot2. Do a NAND backup and post a syscheck log.

GC USB loading is indeed now possible.

Re-mod your Wii with ModMii. It'll install everything you need.

Considering my Wii has the HBC already intalled AND has boot2 already. As for a NAND backup I think I put a close to vanilla one somewhere. I'll give a syslog next time I get it up.

Weird thing though, I tried to boot BootMii from the Homebrew Channel and it failed miserably, just giving a black screen and flashing my Wii's disc slot.

Did you install DARKCORP at one point? Casue most of your IOS is hacked.

Anyway, grab cIOS-d2x from ModMii (BETA-52) and install them over IOS249 and IOS250 with base 56/57 respectively. Grab Hackmii and reinstall HBC and bootmii again.

If you are not using Hermes IOS (you don't really need it now that d2x has higher compatibility), delete them with AnyTitileDeleter to free up some spaces.

DARKCORP rings a bell. Probably did that at some point.
I do have a near vanilla NAND backup (just HBC installed on 4.3E) but I don't really want to use that since I'll lose my save data.

I've generated a ModMii List (it's quite a long list)
Code:
Your unique list of WADs to install are as follows:

    IOS11v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    IOS20v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    IOS30v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    IOS40v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    IOS50v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    IOS52v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    IOS60v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    IOS70v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])
    IOS80v16174(IOS60v6174[FS-ES-NP-VP-DIP])

    cIOS224[57]-v5.1R

    IOS57-64-v5919
    IOS61-64-v5662
    IOS62-64-v6430

Once I've got this installed and the latest version of WiiFlow on it I should be set for Wii games. How do I go about getting the USB loading set up for GC or is that just built into most things now?

I think you just have to install DIOS-MIOS, make sure your HDD is formatted with 32K or 64K cluster size (important) and then GC loading will just work assuming your loader supports it (most do)

Change d2x settings to v10-Beta53. Right now ModMii will download older version, v8. Like I said you can skip IOS 202/222/223/224.

There are two ways to load GC games from USB, Devolution and DIOS MIOS.

Devolution works by running GC games under Wii mode. Advantage is that you can use WiiRemote during gameplay, plays audio streaming game perfectly, and can go online with games like PSO. Disadvantage is that you need original disc since Devolution has anti-piracy mechanism.

DIOS MIOS works by dropping Wii into GC mode. Advantage is that you don't original disc. Disadvantage is that no online gaming, can't play audio streaming game with audio, only works with GC controller.

When you say "Need Original Disc" does that mean that I need to have the disc in the console (meaning it isn't actually USB loading) or that I have to prove to it that I have the disc by ripping it through that program (I was really just doing this for convenience not for piracy)

trumpet says "Advantage is that you can use WiiRemote during gameplay" this isnt yet possible , and you perception of devolution is correct , its a usb loader with AP measures.

You need the disc for both ripping and validation. For ripping you use CleanRip, which will make 1:1 clean copy of the game in ISO format.

When you boot the game for the first time Devolution will ask you to insert the game so it can validate your disc and the ISO. You need to do this for every game you ripped.

This AP measure also has a hidden downside, you cannot use modified game (undubbing, fan translated games, etc).

Installed DIOS-MIOS 2.8 for loading from USB and downloaded and installed the updated d2x you suggested (downloaded for same IOS and same number as the lower version in my list)
I'm having issues with WiiFlow now.
When I load it the first time it can't find any games. I tried ripping one with its program but that caused a Stack Dump. Any more loads of it without clearing the WiiFlow folder produces a screen with buttons but no text at all.

Update your WiiFlow to the latest version.

How is your Wii and GC game folder structure?

/wbfs/[game name]/[game].wbfs for most of the games.
Ones that I just ripped with WiiFlow before trying to update are just in the /wbfs folder.

I'll d/l the latest WiiFlow and check as well as getting a new syslog to check in the next couple of hours. I'm having a serious problem with batteries (basically the ones that we have hold charge for about an hour).

I just reformatted this HDD and I distinctly remember setting it to 32kb clusters.
