Game has awesome sprites though, no matter how you slice it.

Seeing a 16-bit Midgar City battle background is just awesome. Too bad all that awesome work was wasted on such a piss poor title.
I can't wait to see some of them ripped properly and implemented in some romhacks or fan games, myself. Put some of that game to good use!

The can and should only report on fact. I'm sure they realize that the chances of Type-0 being localized are close to zero, but they can't state it as fact until they get official word from Square Enix.
Plus, anything can happen. It's impossible to be absolutely certain (even with official word) that a game will never be localized, because things can change after time.

There's plenty of games we never thought we'd get, yet we did all the same. Who's to say that Type-0 won't be one of those games down the road?

That said, I still eagerly await updates on this project, and look forward to seeing a finished version whenever it comes out.

No! DO NOT take money for your efforts! If you do, that will be exactly what all of the haters of this project will use to try and get Square Enix to send you a C & D letter. You deserve to get paid, but if you truly care about getting this project done, DO NOT TAKE ANY MONEY! Square-Enix knows about this project. They are watching!

Money and donations are for dumb dumbs. You may donate your gratitude in the form of text statements however. Or you can ignore me entirely.

My only question about this project is whether or not Japanese honorifics will be retained. I can't think of anything more annoying than reading English text and seeing honorifics.

We are trying to retain the original meaning of what the game wishes to convey. Honorifics will be discarded so it makes sense to the english language so stuff like "kun" and "chan" and other suffixes will likely not be present. As in english we don't use honorifics like that.

On that note, personally, I don't hope the team will start inserting thou-arts (which isn't exactly old nor archaic English anyways, for that matter) where the team feels it best-fit, or where they feel it would add dramatic effect or character. Several big-name games add in all sorts of kooky attitudes and idiolects when localizing games that out-right contradict or completely alter the presentation of the games' characters. Square Enix has been notorious for this in their recent Dragon Quest games and Final Fantasy remakes (and also Final Fantasy XII in general).

Oh God no...."Thou-art" is NOT something that the majority of normal people would ever want to see, especially when the audio will be in Japanese. It comes across as forced and pompous and is hardly ever a good idea in a script...if this was SHAKESPEARE THE GAME - BACK WITH THE BARD! maybe it'd be ok....but this isn't. If you want to make a character look like a "tosser" (colloquial English term....) by all means go quirky on translation, but keeping things translation neutral in many respects does wonders.

The Mother 3 translation is a shining example of something that looks like an official English release....it's a benchmark for game translations for me.

Edit- Regarding these "Olde World" phrasings - are there any Brits on the editing team?

I don't think any of us are British. We're a pretty diverse group, but somehow there's no one from Britain.

I'm not totally against the idea of using some older terms, but as Mag said, it'll be as the script demands.

For a good example, look at the small bit of the intro CG in the youtube video Sky posted. That is narrated by a god of some kind, so the sentence structure and word choice isn't exactly casual.

But for the most part, the dialogue in the game is spoken by fairly normal people (with super powers...). So we'll try to make sure they sound like normal people. And for times when someone not entirely normal is speaking *cough*Gilgamesh*cough*, it'll sound appropriately awesome. :)

Haha I think Gilgamesh would be so awesome with that speech xDD "Thou art my enemys. I shall grand ur wish to die" xDDDD
I never meant to let "normal people" speak like that. I meant more like a King or anything like that. A Ruler of a country or something like that^^

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."
