Just calm down people, this is what we didn't want from the start. This is called "bad publicity". So just calm down. Please leave this page if u only have concernes. Thank u :(

I am so fucking ready with all my "yes's" but you know SE isn't going to tolerate this....with one C+D letter..this project will be canned...and since it's all over the internet news like Kotaku and not silently being worked on..like it SHOULD BE they OBVIOUSLY know it's existance...square enix is going to sit back and wait years and then before the final release..and say "this is ISO friendly and promotes piracy...ahhh" "you can't do that ahhhh" "destroy all your hard work of years of these files of the translation or be fined / lawyered into the ground...ahhhhhh..."

they showed their true colors with the Chrono Trigger sequel SNES Rom Hack "Crimson Echoes". It was a precedent of setting an example of a closed and unfriendly company. and one I will never forgive or support. If they got anal about a SNES ROM hack. Then they will get butt***king mad over a PSP game. especially editing a ripped file of a "copyrighted media" (UMD)

...I hope the publicity isn't going to bite them in the ass....

and to The Kotaku editor who pretty much let the cat out of the bag and possibly fucked the whole project?? When Square Shuts down and puts a gag order on the project because YOU REACHED out to THEM.....

kill yourself.

Stanley, if you have taken your time and read through all the post, you will notice that this has been brought up several times. I will repeat it one last time, we will cross that bring if it ever comes up.
Even if SE did decide to shut the project down, the game can still be translated. Albeit, it will not longer be in a form of patch. Rather it will be in a complete website; more complete that what is already out there on the web.

Also I would not consider Crimson Echoes the same league as a translation project. That was a rom hack creating a completely different game using Chrono Trigger's rom and game engine. Even I would be upset by this if I was SE.

We are actually in contact with the Jason on Kotaku, he's a pretty nice guy. He had his reason to post, just like anybody else online does. Should he have not posted the article...maybe, but it's too late now.
Crying about it is not going to undo anything. We would rather concentrate on the project.

So please if you don't mind, you and everyone else planning on posting anything about C+D can stop it. We are not dumb, we can put 1 and 1 together and figure out the answer is 2.

I will also bring up to the team that we should no longer post any update of the project, since this is just getting ridiculously repetitive and tiresome. Would that put ease in your mind Mr.stanleyopar2000?

For everyone else, thank you for all of your positive thoughts and support.

I´m of same mind like Artistan don´t post any updates and keep working until the project is completed you have the support of millions of fans with hopes for this patch to become a reality.

And Mr.stanleyopar2000 you should be more optimistic and positive not negative as you have demonstrated, the group assembled for this project need to focus on their work and need support not negative comments.

Just like Artistan said, the people who did the SNES sequel of Chrono Trigger is using everything from the game Chrono trigger to make an entire new one. Just like the link you posted http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/09/unlicensed-my-little-pony-fighter-shut-down/ , they also use something and made a game out of it. What Skybalde and the others in the project is doing is different. They are just translating it. And that's it.

Bro, you're over reacting a lil bit. SE is pretty bad about FAN games and thing like that, but we've had quite a few translations of SE games. Even for SE games that were getting a US release. (See Birth By Sleep and Birth By Sleep Final Mix) IMO if SE does anything, oh well. Shit happens. Ultimately it's their choice as it IS their property.

that's what I meant from the beginning about not posting any updates, since there were gonna be haters, pesimist people and troll people, now can we just forget and just go on?

I don't know about haters, lol, but I think, like u said, just don't mention this topic again. Don't say things the team should do. They know on they're own, what they want to do. People who didn't read the whole thing shouldn't even writing here.
Please just let em work. They are experienced and know how to react. They did show that till now. No one from the Team did ever panic.
Calm down, relax, watch the thread and enjoy the finished translation when it's done. Often speaking is silver, silence is gold, u know?

So clear-cut from this, thank u :)

Exactly. I'd like to remind everyone that the only reason people even talk about SE and C&Ds is because of a ripoff some people tried to make with Chrono sprites. Not a translation project, but a total abuse of the IP. The last time I've ever even heard rumors of a company sending a C&D to a translation group, it turned out to be a hoax.

Not to mention: the C&D concerning that specific project was, and was naturally expected to be, a hoax. Internal team mates confessed it was a trite way to get out of the hype they had made for themselves.

There have been no instances where a legal C&D was issued to a translation or fan-made project, including ones featuring modification of copyrighted code and/or distribution of said-code (in the U.S., at least). U.S. law would not sanction such bullying over derivative contents that go without an intention for direct profit. The largest reason is that no such fan-workl or publication warrants an obstruction of Square-Enix's intellectual properties nor their economic ventures. One might as well postulate that all fan-fiction deserves C&D notices.

Any fear-mongering or suspicion over notices like a C&D are informed only by baseless speculation and misinformed individuals.

I don't wanna know about All the Bravest. *blech*

Terrible, even for a mobile game.

You're telling me.

Game has awesome sprites though, no matter how you slice it.

Seeing a 16-bit Midgar City battle background is just awesome. Too bad all that awesome work was wasted on such a piss poor title.

Yeah the original sprites were quite good. If only they thought bigger they could make a 2-D rendition of 3-D titles.

I don't understand why it keeps saying, "fans are impatient waiting for a Western release". Don't they understand that there is no, and will be no western release ever?

The can and should only report on fact. I'm sure they realize that the chances of Type-0 being localized are close to zero, but they can't state it as fact until they get official word from Square Enix.
