Nothing seems to be secure enough anymore, when Twitter joins the many online communities that have had their servers breached. Limited information on 250,000 accounts were stolen in the recent attack. All compromised passwords have been reset and the affected users notified, but still quite a big mess for Twitter. Apparently the hack exploited a flaw in Java.

Somehow I can't seem to understand how Java seems to be in pretty much everything when it's basically full of flaws (possibly due to the wide spread use, it's exploited to the max).

This is why I don't have a Twitter account. I just use Facebook instead where everything is already public.

I was under the impression that everyone was going to move to HTML 5 so stuff like this wouldn't occur. This just helps show the problems with java

Are you thinking of Javascript instead for something? HTML5 is not a replacement for Java in most situations.

Twatters.

I win. B-)

Sadly others have used it as a somewhat disparaging collective noun for Twitter users already.

Unless.... you are aiming for another situation like the American news definition of hacker and ones everybody else uses aren't you?

Back on topic I hope we get a nice report of how it happened.

I was just doing a funny... ._.

In any case! Changed my password despite the fact that it's been months since I used Twitter... Last time I did, it was for an online competition anyways, so it doesn't count as "active use".

I have lied to all of you. I am deeply sorry.

My account is uneffected. Even if it were hacked, I'd not give a crap, I don't use any real information on it. I only use it when it's required for contests and the like, I'd just make a new one :P

Seriosuly though, 250,000? That's gotta be less than 1/100th of the total, it's not that many in the large scale.
