Game difficulty levels

Apart from that, as for a more potential discussion: I really dislike games whose difficulty levels are not increasing difficulty, but increasing damage/less health, or similar things as such. Now, scarcity I'm all for so long as it forces the player to be more ingenious with their resources, but once you artificially scale difficulties, the breath of any difficulty is puffed out forever.

Rather, games which actually change up in order to become more difficult, I like. Borderlands 2 introduces new enemies on its harder setting, ones which require new tactical thought in order to engage. Advance Wars 1, too, will put you into redesigned missions with more menacing, dangerous layouts to deal with that you otherwise wouldn't see on easier difficulties. Even Fire Emblem will tote out new enemy layouts or even inventories to keep you on your toes. But games that simply increase XX by YY% often fail to become more difficult at all, in any sense of accomplishment. You're playing on the same mode at all times. The only difference is exaggeration.
