Hi guys,

Can't seem to find any info on the net.

I have downloaded the second Wii U update 6 times.

Every time the update tries to install it gives me this error:

'An error occurred. Please check the Wii U GamePad screen. If the problem persists, please contact your local customer support centre.'

Installation stopped at 31% and several more at 40%.

I can't update the damn thing!

I'd probably try backing up my saves/content to a USB device and then reformatting to see if that helps.

Is it actually downloading or just trying to install 6 times? Have you deleted the update in the system menu and re-downloaded? Otherwise it will keep trying to re-install the same file.

What happens is, the update downloads and tries to install. When the installation fails, I have to download the update again.

When it tries to install, the percentage bar speeds up all the way to 30% in the updating... screen and slowly creeps up to 48% and quickly speeds up to 60% and the error pops up.

Thus, restarting my Wii U and forcing me to download the update again.

I think I may have to backup everything and start fresh. Stupid thing!

EDIT: This time went up to 61% before the error popped up. Come on!

Just called Nintendo Australia.

They said quite a few people are having this issue and their engineers not sure what's causing the problem.

They took down my details to call back once they know.

Something tells me this could be a start of an Update of Death situation where you can't update your console.

They said formatting won't do anything. Have to wait.

While Nintendo Tech STILL try to figure this out, this has worked for me (finally) and on my brother's machine. Brother and I trying to figure it out, and the last thing to do was put in manual settings, he tried Google's DNS settings. Success!

SOLUTION:

It's a DNS issue.

Go into your current internet settings for your Wii U and edit your existing connection.

Go to DNS and fill it in manually (not auto assign).

Use Google's DNS.

First: 8.8.8.8
Second: 8.8.4.4

It will look like this on your Wii U:

First: 008.008.008.008
Second: 008.008.004.004

Save the settings and download the update. It will install with no error.

*waves* to Nintendo Tech, take note!

i tried it 3 times without any luck still not working for me still 31% and reboot :(

My brother told Nintendo Tech about this solution and they have called a few people and they have had some success, others not.

The other thing to do waleed is to input your internet settings manually.

1. SSI
2. Security type

Open up cmd in your computer, type in ipconfig to get the following information:

3. IP address
4. Subnet mask
5. Default gateway

Sorry I would of given a more step by step process in front of the Wii U, but I'm at work.

However, use this link: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/sy...enu=how_to&submenu=wup-online-ht-dns-settings

Has the information to set it up manually (click on How to Manually Enter IP Address Settings). I would try putting your settings manually and with Google's DNS instead of your own DNS (don't tick auto-obtain and see if it works).

Other notable links that will help with this process if you need more step by step info:

http://gengame.net/2012/11/if-your-...rnet-you-may-need-to-enter-settings-manually/

IGN have some screenshots:

And a good discussion on Whirlpool if you like:

Let me know if you're successful. Nintendo Tech said some were, others weren't, so they're still waiting on a solution.

I would advise to call them and let them know as they will update you if there's progress.

Also, if it's successful, it's recommend to change the DNS back to your ISP provider so there's no issues of lagging online.
