In case anyone is interested to use Gecko OS (playing Wii games with cheat codes) with Wii Mode in Wii U console, it works so far for me.

Here is the video to show:

Pfffft, if that works then Riivolution almost certainly does, and if it doesn't offhand then it can work with a small patch to have a command to re-check the loaded disc. Been too long since I've used it with anything but NSMBW to know if it can be done.

Also, quit walking on houses!! :P

This post is nonsense. Gecko OS works by doing some relatively small memory based patches. Riivolution works by performing some far more major patches to allow redirection of DVD access calls to the SD card or USB drive. It requires a working IOS exploit to work. Gecko OS does not. In other words, for Riivolution to work it takes the same level of exploitation as installing HBC or any other permanent modification to NAND. Riivolution doesn't make any modification to NAND (unless installed as channel), but it requires the same level of access to do what it does as it would to make modifications to NAND.

Riivolution has been confirmed not to work on the WiiU's WiiMode I believe, as the IOS has been patched.

I saw your video, but how did you get it to work? I mean, what steps did u take? That is the main thing I want for homebrew (Using cheats in Wii and VC Games). Can you still write codes to the memory card? Please help me if u can :)

1. Run smash stack (http://wiiubrew.org/wiki/Smash_Stack) as usual. I also put WiiExplorer elf file (renamed it as boot.elf) in the main folder of SD card, so the smash stack exploit will automatically load WiiExplorer.
2. You need Gecko OS elf file in the SD card (in my case I put it in the main folder of SD card), and once WiiExplorer is on, you choose this file to run (and clearly, you also need the codes, i.e. corresponding gct file for the game of interest in the codes folder of SD card)
3. Change the game disc (in my case I change the game disc to Animal Crossing City Folks)
4. Load the game from Gecko OS menu (you could also change the configuration if you want first)
5. Enjoy your game

Thanks MUCH for the help :)
Does codes work with VC (Ex: Mega Man 9/10, Nes/Snes games) games also? If I remember, I had to install a different system OS to get VC games to work on original Wii...

Has any of the (serious) hackers out there confirmed if there was still "real" IOS running in Wii mode ?
Afaik, WiiU does not embeds an ARM CPU like the Wii did so I guess there is some compatibility or emulation layer running out there on one of the PPC core. Or are these brand new IOS coded specifically for WiiU CPUs ?
This would also mean that finding IOS exploits to install unauthorized stuff on NAND is going to be trickier, right ?

"Confirmed" not working? Well, haven't seen that anywhere I tread, but crap. Not that I was planning on getting rid of my Wii, but here's hoping a new exploit is found so more people can partake of Newer when it gets released. Most people I've spoken to are trading in their Wii for no real reason. |3

There are already IOS exploits that work on the revisions of IOS present on the WiiU. None have been made public as of this moment, but it's only a matter of time until software incorporating them are released. crediar has demonstrated that he can dump the keys from the WiiMode of the WiiU, which requires an IOS exploit. Team Twiizers probably already have a store of unused IOS exploits ready to implement in the HackMii Installer. There are probably numerous other hacker with IOS exploits just waiting to be utilized.

I transferred my Wii data to Wii U. Before I try using Wii cheats, I have 2 questions:

1. Can I still write data to the SD card? I mean, would I be able to use Acciohacks to download codes and then save them to card?

2. After I quit a Wii game, would Wii U try to delete the Smash hack?

Please help and thanks :)

1. Yes, no worries there.

2. Yeh, the Wii U will delete the smash stack if you don't have the read only switch on the SD card on. (Needs to be off to write to it)

I am confused about something... As I understand, Wii U will delete the Smash Stack if detected. How can I write codes and change enabled/disabled codes if the Wii U will just delete Smash Stack afterward? If I quit a Wii game, will it delete in Wii Mode, or delete when in Wii U mode?
