Not sure if same team but downloading one of the patches and looking in the changelog has this

"important distinction:
Now, there are so many fake Wood R4 versions which have nothing to do with me. Only Wood R4 for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com), and AK RPG are supported by me."

Thanks for the information.
I guess this is a good bye to my Acekard 2i

I wish someone with some true familiarity with the terminology & hardware differences could give a clearer indication of exactly which R4 clone(s) may be able to release a fix without return to the factory. :/ I do have a DStwo but I've never liked it due to its considerably higher battery draw compared to cards like AK2i.

Definitely another good reason to keep my older DS(i) systems. I was just thinking of cashing in a couple more from my collection too before they *really* sank in value but I'd rather keep them than have the 3-5 hour (if conditions permit minimum brightness) battery life with a DStwo on 3DS -.- If I want to play a DS RPG that's just not satisfactory at all.

It's R4i Gold from www.r4ids.cn
Here is a video of the flashcard working on v4.4.0-10

Here's a much simpler solution...
http://gbatemp.net/t290097-which-flash-cart-should-i-get
If it's not on that list, don't buy it, and you won't hit the problems.

Even if some carts can be updated, the team needs to release an update for it to exist, and lots of teams won't do it even when it's possible. Either they just gave up and moved onto another venture, or they just want to get people to buy another model.

Yes, it's the changelog of Wood R4. The yellow wood goblin made it ;) and no R4 Team.

Your response makes me think you didn't even read the post on Supercard forum that I was replying about at the time you wrote it.

edit: I see the frontpage article you tipped on, now. Edited.

exangel, do not pay attention to the declaration released by super card team. They seems to be too arrogant. As you know, r4i gold 3ds(r4ids.cn)has released a video and they also declared that the patch will be available within a week.

the statement acknowledges the video from r4ids.cn though, it just doesn't give the exact name due to competition I guess. (but someone else responded to me with the video we reference already)

i also already own an r4ids.cn R4i Gold 3DS cartridge and i'm excited about the news. i did some of my own battery life comparison testing in july, here is paste from my PM where I was compiling the results.
tests were run using [member='Snailface']'s DS battery life homebrew in 3DS mode

1-year old 3DS with (also 1-year old) Nyko PowerPak Plus (Wireless off, minimum brightness, power-saving On, sound off)
  • 09:35 - DStwo - 4GB Class 4 MicroSDHC
  • 11:15 - AK2i - 8GB Class 6 MicroSDHC
  • 11:55 - R43D - 2GB MicroSD
  • 12:25 - R4i Gold 3DS - 32GB Class 10 MicroSDHC
(I think having a higher speed class rating on the MicroSDHC may be a significant benefit, since the device spends less time doing its reads/writes.. The variations between battery life of the R4 Clones I tested are rather strange.)

1-year old 3DS with stock battery: (Wireless off, minimum brightness, power-saving On, sound off)
  • 07:00 - R43D - 2GB MicroSD (www.r4idsn.com)
  • 05:40 - DStwo - 4GB Class 4 MicroSDHC
  • 07:30 - R4i Gold 3DS - 32GB Class 10 MicroSDHC (www.r4ids.cn)

DSTwo
&
r4ids.cn R4i Gold 3DS (i do not know about there non-3ds version)
&
r4idsn.com R4

are the only ones that can possibly support 4.4.0-10
as i do not have a official list of many other card i cannot confirm if they could receive an update

Here's the info I posted.

http://gbatemp.net/topic/334625-new-firmware-update/page__view__findpost__p__4399704

And as far as we've seen, the categories have held true (as far as ease of updating and actions when trying to boot).

Whether the class-1 carts are actually blocked or not depends, though.

yea its a pain
we need to just hear from the flashcard developers
does there card have IC chips or not

least this will clear out alot or cards
but means many people will be purchasing new ones

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
