try ugrading to v8 of d2x and by latest version do you mean v1200 or somthing different, also I just thought of this are you using DIOS MIOS v2.0 or v2.2+ if the second one, make sure your loader is set to regonize it as 2.2 or above in the loader settings.

According to the readme of D2X when you download it from: http://code.google.com/p/d2x-cios/downloads/detail?name=d2x-v8-final.zip&can=2&q
"[ HOW TO INSTALL IT ]
You can install d2x cios through ModMii or d2x-cios-installer.

ModMii:
- Download and install ModMii v4.8.1 or higher on your PC. Download link:
http://gbatemp.net/topic/207126-modmii-for-windows
- From ModMii's Main Menu, enter "4", then "beta"
- Select the d2x beta you want to build
- Mark some or all d2x cIOSs for download (i.e. "d2x")
- Enter "D" then "Y" to build d2x beta cIOSs\WADs
- Install cIOSs using a WAD Manager - i.e. WiiMod\MMM\YAWMM (available on
ModMii's Download Page 2)
d2x-cios-installer:
- Download the latest d2x-cios-installer from its google code page:
http://code.google.com/p/d2x-cios-installer/downloads/list
- Extract it into the apps folder of your sd card or usb device
- Extract d2x-v8-final.zip on your sd card or usb device
into the folder /apps/d2x-cios-installer.
NOTE: This will overwrite the file /apps/d2x-cios-installer/ciosmaps.xml
possibly present in that folder. You might want to rename it before
extracting the d2x package.
- Launch the Homebrew Channel, start the installer and follow the
instructions on the screen"

what base did you use for the d2x?
if DIOS MIOS runs correctly, you will get a GC logo with DIOS MIOS written under it.
Also, now that the wii is set up properly, did you run the iso through crediar's discex program to set the isos correctly
download link DiscEX v0.9: http://uploaded.net/file/d5xae567

And thanks for all the help so farEdit I ripped one of my gc games using clean rip and put the iso through the program you linked too and got a black screen

Unless you have a very specific dvd drive, you'll have to use your wii to rip them and that program is for gc games only btw.

Yeah I ripped star wars rogue squadron III and ran it through the program and when I went to load it it went to the dios mios logo and I could hear the disc drive on the wii being accessed and the light on my USB hd blink but then it just goes to a black screen

I noticed that too, but I can't play that game either and I know other people have had this problem before for that game specifically.

USB loader GX itself can rip discs, and it's not bad.

That is one of the few games that is not working, try another game. here is a compatibility list: http://crediar.no-ip.com/gc/
that list shows rebel strike works but i guess i can try resident evil 2
I noticed that too, but I can't play that game either and I know other people have had this problem before for that game specifically.
ok just tried resident evil 2 and got a black screen, at this point i dont know if its the rips or my usb hd should i try another game or resoftmod from scratch with more updated ios's etc? is there another app to rip gc games with? im using the latest version of clean rip
USB loader GX itself can rip discs, and it's not bad.
do i still have to run them through the program or are they good as is?
I do not think you have to, but could you make a new syscheck since you installed the new d2x and whatnot?
