Hello there,

Thrice, give or take, every week, I would have some friends or family asking me to re-install Windows on their computer(s) because of various reasons. Often, I would need to fetch drivers, favorite games, Office, and other softwares. I am seeking for a way to simplify to tedious job of mine. I heard of ways that we could create a disk that comes with our drivers and software. I googled it and stumbled upon rtse7venlite, but it doesn't come with software support, if I'm not wrong. Can anyone suggest me a software that suites my need? Thank you very much.

Best Regards,
Lastly

What you're looking for is a disc imaging software, and be aware that using it (since it supports software and installed drivers and such) means that each computer needs their own image made.

If the same people are getting their computer fucked up that often, consider putting them on a limited account or finding something like Deep Freeze.

(I don't know of any free alternatives offhand).

I am aware of both options. Thank you for your input btw. I'm still looking for something else that works on all computer. Disk Imaging is officially supported and bundled in Windows 7 and up without the need for third party software. I don't want to use Deep Freeze because my friends... isn't really all that technical. They would get confused when I plug in a different keyboard. Again, thank you, but this is not the answer I'm looking for.

You're looking for one of two things.

1 - Software that can set up windows with pre-installed drivers and software on multiple machines.
As far as I'm aware this is not possible without setup needed on each machine anyways after the install. The windows Hardware Abstraction Layer and such needs to be built per-machine (which is why you can't take an image from one computer and have it working properly on a machine with different hardware), even if moved over some setup needs to be done to get it functional like it was on the previous machine, and the process unloads existing drivers anyways. You could try this route and simply stick all the needed driver files (the extracted driver files, NOT the .exe installers) in the windows system directory so that when detecting the new hardware on boot windows can search itself to get the right drivers, but I wouldn't know how Windows would handle things that need additional configuration, such as some GPUs.

2 - Software that can run through installers automatically after installing windows.
I'm not aware of any software that comes pre-configured to know how to navigate through all the various types of installers that software and drivers use, though their may be a tool to record your own. I've never seen any company make something like this because whenever you have users that can't be trusted on a system, an automatic imaging software like Deep Freeze takes much less time and effort, so customers opt for that instead.

Driverforge and driverpacks works well on XP but 7 is a slightly different beast (although you could try http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd799258%28WS.10%29.aspx ) and I have not really had cause to do anything with 7.

Actual software wise https://ninite.com/ is indispensable for me right now.

There are various things to kind of do what you want (ninite for software and winlite and vlite for drivers and OS customisation although I am quite impressed with 7 defaults) but I would have to second the disk imaging and slicing their partitions in half for the storage of the image (or more for the likes of a documents partition) and image it as well as locking it all right down.

Beyond that stick a current/choice version of intel, nvidia and AMD graphics drivers on a stick, some network drivers as necessary and go windows update- other than sound most people would never know the difference and doubly so if they are as technophobic as you say. You might also want a firefox/browser auto deployment option (I tend to abuse mozbackup for this) but you can play that by ear.

Never heard of Ninite before. Just downloaded the installer I'll end up using in the future. You've saved me probably an hour of frustration each few months. :yay:

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
