Were you never too fond of every game in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection? Always love Metal Gear Solid 3 but would rather leave Raiden's maiden voyage in Metal Gear Solid 2 behind? Well fear no longer, as each section of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is getting sold separately on digital distribution!

For the Playstation Vita and Playstation 3, you can download Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 separately starting August 18th. You can also get both Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 bundled on Xbox's Games on Demand. However, for the Xbox 360, the two numbered entries are not sold separately.

Starting August 28th, you can get Metal Gear Solid's portable entry, Peace Walker, separately on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. You can also get the full collection for the Playstation 3 digitally that day as well.

No prices for each were mentioned, but the original game launched at $50 on consoles and $40 on Vita, so expect for the games to total around that. The full collection will still be available at retail as well.

Minor nit-pick but MGS HD Collection for the Vita is a bad name. It should be MGS sub-qHD Collection. I suppose that isn't as catchy, though.

Not really a good deal since you can probably get the whole collection cheaper used than buying it separate digitally.

That's actually pretty neat, I hope other HD compilations also decided to do this, I bet some people buy the compilations just to play one of the games on it in HD, with this they won't have to spend extra cash and get all the games that they might not even play. =O

OH HO HO YOU'RE SO FUNNY.

At least the Vita version doesn't chug along at a miserable resolution like the 3DS version. We can do this all day but let's end it here, shall we?

If you only wanted a single game it's probably cheaper than the whole collection. I'm guessing each game will be like $20. That way you can get any one or two games for cheaper but buying all three would be better for the collection. Think of most game collections on Steam.

Quit crying, Guild.

I point out that the title is factually incorrect (just as a nitpick) and you start bitching about the 3DS version. God, stop taking everything so personally.

Still, probably cheaper used to get the whole collection than one of the games. Even then, I would rather play each MGS game in HD in order again than get one separately but that's me.,

If they released Peace Walker HD for Vita, I'd consider buying it digitally.

For now though, I already own the PS3 HD Collection and the original games, so this doesn't exactly bother me.

I definitely want to play though MGS3, I just haven't gotten around to it. I'll see what the price ends up being; I'm hoping for a great deal.

As far as I know, the PS3 has been doing this for a while starting with either the Sly games or GoW games. Can't remember which.
I still plan on buying the full collection on Vita so it doesn't matter.

So these upscaled ( / enhanced ) ports are getting a digital (separate) release just like every other "HD-Collection" game? Whoop, really newsworthy

However, soulx has a valid point here, and you Guild has some point in what you say as well, however not regarding what soulx said. Metal Gear Solid HD-collection for a screen that is not HD? It is not factually correct, not that I care. Many games through out the years have had stuff like that in their titles; "blah blah 3D" on SNES, some "4D" stuff in both games and movies... just a nitpicking comment, nothing to get worked up about.

And yes Guild, this version is much probably a far supperior version to the 3DS version, and the 3DS version is probably ball sucking shit. I've played the demo, and didn't like it. Though it should be said: I don't like ANY MGS game, just isn't my thing.
What that game does, however, is having 3D in it's title, offering 3D graphics through the 3DS's 3D screen. Laggy? Yeah. Ugly? Yeah, Sub-HD? Yeah. 3D? Yeah.

You should really take off your Sony colored glasses for a while, and not get so worked up about a snappy, nitpicking and also factually correct comment about the name of a game released for (what you give the impression of) your favorite console of all time.

The PS Vita doesn't have an HD screen, so claiming that calling a port to the Vita "HD" is incorrect... is factual. The Vita is not HD, so using the phrase "HD" in reference to the graphics as a selling point is wrong.
Metal Gear Solid Enhanced Port Collection sounded too lenghty. While I agree with you on the "High Definition" aspect from a technical stand-point, I think that A) Most buyers don't even know what resolutions are considered HD and B) Most buyers probably understand that by HD they mean "Improved Graphics". ;)

I've never played MGS before. Where should i begin?
MGS1 --> MGS2 --> MGS3 --> MGS Peacewalker --> MGS4

So yeah, the first one.
What about Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2? They're in the pack too as bonuses, from what I remember. These two happen before the Solid timeline begins. :P

...just being picky. :P

The name is "Metal Gear Solid HD Collection". I'm calling it "Metal Gear Solid HD Collection" because that's the fucking name. If have any issue with it, go complain to Konami.

Guild, no one has even said that you are the evil person who came up with that name! It was a comment on the name... But okay, we are not allowed to post any negative oppinions here at all, (as long as it isn't negative about a certain company, which is encouraged) but we should take our oppinoins to the company responsible for the product of which we have oppinions.

It's people typically known for bitching about nitpicks that have absolutely no relevance or effect on the actual content arguing about nitpicks that have absolutely no relevance or effect on the content. This isn't a thread to complain about TWO LETTERS in a game's title (mind you this game has been out for a couple of months now so why are we complaining now?), it's a thread about the games from the collection getting released separately via digital distribution. State your opinion on that, but if you're gonna come here to complain about the OFFICIAL TITLE of a game, then just leave.

I'm not oppressing opinions here, it's called staying on the goddamn topic and not being nitpickers who do nothing but argue useless points.

How is that treating you?

Choice is always a good thing, I would be tempted to get the collection anyway, as I have not played any MGS apart from MGS 3, briefly at a friends. Always wanted to get into it though :)
