Not sure if this should really be in USN, but anyways, it's still amusing that somebody used the Zelda theme during the Olympics. She placed 35th for the curious.

Weird. Works for me in Waterfox but not IE with the direct link. But going through kotaku works in both: http://kotaku.com/5930983/olympic-gymnast-uses-zelda-medley-during-performance

Video forbidden, this video is private.

I watched it just fine

Certainly better than the Olympic footage I've been subjected to non-stop at work for the last week, four TVs mounted in each office used to show staff stats + TV footage... ALL currently showing nothing but Olympics :glare:

New rule, all Olympic events to have Zelda music played throughout :yay:

I'm surprised the olympics allowed it. They are very strict when it comes to using music/showing off stuff they don't officially support. The GB team even got into trouble for mentioning "Union Jack Beats headphones" they got on twitter.

Beats were trying to Guerilla Market their way in though. They've been giving them to the athletes hoping they were them on TV appearances without thinking. I think I remember seeing a pair of Beats around a British Swimmer's neck at one point.

As for the music: I'd not be surprised if they didn't know what it was at the time.

excellent that she used the Zelda theme, but I was less than impressed with her routine.
Which is probably why she placed 35th. She screwed up the landing on her first flips, and otherwise, she didn't do anything exceptionally amazing. She was cute and I definitely liked the music, but her routine left something to be desired.

The speakers are crap on this laptop and I'm surounded by noise atm so I can't be sure, but at 1:06 did it just go from the Zelda theme to the Gerudo Desert theme?

I fail to understand how this is news.

Don't you get it, videogames are creeping into the mainstream. Soon Ebert will have to apologize for saying they aren't art! /sarcasm

Though I was surprised during the winter olympics when the US announcers mentioned freakin' NOBUNAGA'S AMBITION when a skater named Oda Nobunari performed. It was like, "We could talk about how he's the descendant of a monstrous warlord, but let's go with the ultra-obscure videogame reference, for that one Koei fan who's watching the olympics instead of spending his 157th hour conquering china."

Is it slightly (or very) sad that I actually recognise the arrangement from Linsey Strerling when she did a Zelda video?
Hell no. Lindsey Stirling is an impressive violin player. She's very talented. Her videos are all pretty high quality too. Anybody who has seen her videos also knows that she's far cuter than the gymnast.

She actually has an album coming out next month on the 18th. :3
