This is a repost because my question got ignored in the official thread.
Anyhow, when loading GameCube games from SD became a reality, I didn't mess with it as my SD card is small enough and slow enough as it is.
When DiosMios 2 came out, I took noticed.
Now I don't recall where the tutorial I followed is at, but it walked me through the steps of downloading a Bat file and such which allowed me to download needed files to create a WAD to use with DM2 or something...
...my memory is a little hazy.
Anyhow, upon first try I got my Gamecube games playing great through WiiFlow MOD.
Now I would like to check out the updates, but I can't find that tutorial I had used.
The Web Page for DIOSMIOS Lite and 2 do not seem to provide any light, so I was wondering if someone could hook me up with a quick set of links and a short tutorial. I know that what ever I did it was not hard, it was just a matter of knowing where to find all the needed files.
Thankx in advance!

Found what I was looking for:

http://gbatemp.net/topic/318585-how-to-play-your-gamecube-games-from-sd-or-usb-using-dios-mios-lite/page__fromsearch__1

So, since I want to run these off USB and not SD, do I even need to download the older versions of DIOSMIOS Lite, or can I just skip the whole part with the DML Wad Creator?

Last time I used it with an older version of the DML.elf file. This time I used #58, is that correct?

If you want to run off usb....you need dios mios 2.2, which can be found here.

of course, you don't need the steps to create the WAD, it's already provided in a wad format.
just install it with a Wad Manager. that's all.

Also, don't install both DML and DM, you can only have one at a time. Installing a new one remove the previous one.
just install DM if you want USB, or DML if you want SD.

Lemme get this straight, I put DM in the apps folder and my games on the root of the USB and I can play Gamecube ISOs?

I don't mean to use your topic for my questions, but I also didn't bother with downloading DML due to my sucky SD card, but now Dios Mios looks great (didn't even notice the old versions in the past).

Here are my noob questions:
So Dios Mios 2.2 can install GCN games into the USB through the Wii port, right?
What files will the games be?
I only need to install DIOSMIOS_2.2.wad to have it work?

I'm asking these because I'll be using my USB that contains Wii games, and I don't want to re-format the partition if I can't get it to work properly.

I appreciate the help :)

That's a lot of unnecessary questions/concerns.

1) DIOS MIOS doesn't install games.
DIOS MIOS run the games you already have on the USB.

If you want to dump (not install) a game to USB, you need to use a game dumper homebrew (like cleanrip) or a game Loader (DMBooter, USBloaderGX, Wiiflow, Configloader, neogamma, etc).

To run the game, you also need a game loader.

2) You want to know where the dumped file will be located on your USB?
it's usually in USB:/games/title of the game[GameID]/game.iso
but you don't need to worry about it, if you use a USB loader to dump the game it will be placed automatically in the correct folder/filename.

3) You need to install the DIOS MIOS wad file with a wad manager and use a compatible game loader (listed above.
You need the latest revisions (beta), not the latest official release (which for most loaders was released before DIOS MIOS release, so it's not compatible with it).
The games must be on the first partition of your USB drive, formated in FAT32, 32k cluster size, primary and active.

Thank you so much, Cyan. You've cleared up most of my questions, but perhaps I wasn't clear enough when I asked the first question.

DIOS MIOS is installed to work with a USB Loader, and this will allow the USB loader to run and also dump the game? I'm a bit confused, since the Wii won't be able to play retail GCN discs, but the loader is able to dump the game.

Also, is there "scrubbed", or smaller, version of the .iso file (similar to how Wii .wbfs files are smaller than .iso files in size)?

no, DIOS MIOS doesn't allow USB loaders to read/write/dump/run gamecube games.
USB loaders can dump gamecube games to USB even without DIOS MIOS (Lite) installed.

DIOS MIOS is a MIOS replacement (MIOS is used to run gamecube games from Disc, DIOS MIOS (Lite) is a modified (fully created) MIOS replacement which redirect the Disc access to another device (SD or USB)).
The USB Loader doesn't care what is installed in the MIOS slot of your Wii, it just run the gamecube game and that's all.
If you have MIOS, the Wii will try to load the game from disc, if you have DIOS MIOS Lite the Wii will try to load the game from SD card, if you have DIOS MIOS the Wii will try to load the game from USB. (not the loader, only the Wii which is affected by the installed MIOS).

the Wii IS able to run retail gamecube games from the system menu and usb loaders too. I don't know why you think it can't. (unless you have a Wii not compatible with Gamecube, but in this case you don't have Controller ports or memory card anyway).

There is a scrubbed version of the iso.
If you use a loader compatible with it, it's called "compress". you can also do it manually with an application on your computer.

Ah, you've been a great help for me, and I appreciate it :)

I'll try DM soon, and see how it works out.

Thanks again!

Hmm, I'm getting a "fatal error! Apploader is zero" error.

I've read somewhere that the game disc actually needs to be in the DVD drive for it to work... I'm not sure if that's true, since that defeats the purpose of having a backup loader.

the game is making some disc access to verify the presence of the game disc in the drive.
DIOS MIOS (Lite) has a "noDisc" setting which could be enabled/disabled to prevent this drive access.

Later, this option was removed as a normal setting accessible in the loader and was replaced (triggered/enabled) by the presence of the disc in the drive. It's still an option to enable the noDisc setting, but not accessed by using a software trigger but a hardware trigger.
I agree that it defeats the purpose of "nodisc" if you need a disc
But there might be a purpose that it's now like this.

just keep a disc in the drive and you will be fine.

Is there a guide for Dios Mios installation? I'd prefer it to be Dios Mios, not Dios Mios Lite.

The only guides I can find are outdated, and I'm not sure if they still apply now.

I'm sorry for being really bothersome.
