From all the comments, there are 2-3 people defending the AP (But not ebcause its good, only because it was the coder's decision), the rest is everyone saying how dissapointed they where after reading it has AP/how pointless is the app.

I hope someone finds a way around the verification/AP sometime soon, otherwise we'll need to wait until Crediar implements streaming audio into Dios Mios. That's the thing I'm looking forward to the most.
Or tueidj fixes the verification (if that is indeed what is causing the problem, there hasn't been a single gecko log posted for that) so piracy can still be prevented (for the most part) using Devolution, and legit users won't have a problem playing backups.

Remember there have only been a couple releases, and tueidj did in a few months what people have been trying to do for about five years. Bugs are to be expected.

If all the lines written down here would be lines of code used to improve devolution, it would be almost bug free now.

AP is giving the author a good argument to keep his program closed source and unreadable. :)
It even allows to use gpl code in it, since nobody is able to check it at the moment.
(I am not saying he is doing it, just that he can get away with it...)

This discussion also gives him the perfect excuse to stop working on it at any moment.
Since it's closed source, he will always be remembered as the only person that succeeded in getting gc audio streaming games working.
(unless it becomes available in DM(L))

Support for classic controllers and the newer wii's will probably be added, as it are also features that dm(l) can't furfill. (My guess)
I assume you will need an external usb dvd drive for the AP verification on those newer wii's with non gc compatible drives.

So far some other arguments why it's there, besided piracy protection.

It's fixed already. Turns out all the problem games were launch games that used a really old apploader, and that caused problems (it messed with memory and overwrote the USB/SD access code or something like that), but r100 has been released in the official Devolution thread and it fixes this issue, as well as adding WiFi logging for users without USB Geckos.

If it was open-source and other people used the codebase for their own derivatives, then he would still be the person that accomplished it, they other people would just be riding on his initial work.

And there dies one of the grasping-at-straws reasons people used in this thread (compatibility issues people were acting like would always exist even though the damn program was just released five days ago).

It was not "grasping at straws". Several games were not able to pass the AP verification. It is great that it is supposedly fixed (have yet to confirm that).

That's great. I wasn't aware that there was a new release (haven't kept up with the thread lately).

I thought tueidj wasn't going to support this app and didn't care to fix games he wasn't interested in playing? Or maybe that's just what some overly dramatic people wrote on the internent...

Who, specifically, made this claim?

who knows. all he said is if you want a game fixed, you're gonna have to give him the money to buy one if it cant be fixed with logs

Okay... that query was actually directed at someone else. It makes specific allegations. I want to know who made those specific claims. It is tiring and frustrating when people post stuff that is not true. I was not asking about what the developer might have stated.

Actually, he's made it pretty clear that he doesn't plan on working on issues for games he doesn't own/plan on playing.

1. THAT was the point I was trying to make all along, Maverick. Why release something WITHOUT the source code when you will NOT support it?

or am I posting more straw men or phallusies?

...and I want it NOW !!
lol

Like saying AP was specifically causing your legit disc copy not to run ? Without even knowing how this thing is working ?

I will tell you, what is tiring is your childish attitude and the fact you think everything posted in this thread is about you or that people are personally attacking you when they simply express a different opinion than yours

Rogue Leader is a retail game that I own. It works from disc. It works using DIOS MIOS. It does not work with Devolution. At first it did not work because the application would lock up the Wii during the AP verification. Now it crashes upon player selection. Only one of these instances includes AP. Or elimination suggests?

As for how Devolution works, it is difficult to determine how applications work when they are closed source. Perhaps the developer will release the source code so that the community can apply their collective resources to debug it?

Where, specifically, have I suggested that everything posted is about me?

Even without the AP verification, that game would not have worked on the earlier versions of Devolution. The problem was that the apploader overwrote the part of memory containing the code for accessing USB/SD. In other words, once the apploader had run, Devolution was no longer able to load stuff from SD or USB, and so could not load the rest of the game (it so happened that the first attempt to access the USB/SD at this point was to write the DVV file, but that doesn't matter, even if it hadn't been writing the file, the game wouldn't have worked). It had absolutely nothing to do with the AP system.

That may be true. I cannot confirm that. However, if so, then it is rather strange that the developer claimed earlier that Rogue Leader worked (when I originally reported the verification/loading failure). If it was just an application error, why did it work for the developer?

why cant people just be happy with everything they always have to complain about something i mean no program is ever going to be perfect there is always going to be flaws like microsoft windows and apple mac and what not untill the dev works out all the bugs and makes a patch for it cant you all just say thank you and be done with it i mean my god there must be at least 5 pages alone on this topic with nothing but bitching :(

Not sure...

Why can't people let other people discuss a topic without coming in and interrupting the discussion only to tell them to stop complaining?

The dev was using a different release of said game...as he stated...in the release thread...multiple times...

Look guys, all the bitching you're doing is in vain, tueidj isn't even giving attention to this thread (and i'm sure he hyperfacepalmed when he saw it)
if we want to have any result about AP removal, we need to talk to the developer.

If everyone was always complacent and never complained, nothing would ever change and improve.

If it's alright to sing praise, it's also alright to provide with criticism.

Sadly, that would be a waste of time. tueidj likes to ignore questions, suggestions and feedback regarding Devo's AP, not even bothering to reply to such posts.
