Like I expected, Crediar was waiting for donations to release this, fair enough, he deserves to ask for donations for his hard work, it's good news that DM didn't get canceled!

I just came back from the mall, been looking for Hard Drives, if DM comes out I hope by those who test it if they can confirm it working with NTFS or must it be FAT32, cause I'm still not sure how to split WBFS files that are bigger than 4Gb in FAT32 and I'm worried to ruin the games I got!

WiiBackupFusion converts ISO images back into split WBFS files so they can fit on FAT32 partitions just fine. And it's a very easy to use.

WiiBackupFusion? I shall look for this, does it convert .iso to .wbfs and split it for FAT32? also what if I wanted the .iso file again say to use on Dolphin, can I repack these two .wbfs files to one pack without the game being damaged?

im glad to see this on the horizon, if people donated they deserve to get a gift, i'd do the same in crediars position. im pretty sure PJ64 has been in 1.7 beta for about 8 years now, feels like 10 years.

heres to DM being released, finally bringing wii hacks full circle.
Well it came out like 2 years ago, but crediar took down the source when he gave up on it.

Use WiiBackupManager. Yes and yes.

I have WiiBackupManager and I always use it for moving isos to my HDD, but I didn't know it can split the games, sorry to bother but how do I do this with WiiBackupManager?

just add a game to wiiback up manager, select your usb hdd under drive and then click transfer, it will split the file for you as it moves it to your hdd

That simple? Hey thanks, but how can I recover the iso if I wanted to use it on Dolphin or something?

use backup manager, under drive select your usb hdd and it should list all the games on your hdd, from there you should be able to transfer games back if need be, elsewhere in there are options to convert games to and from iso, ciso and wbfs

Hooray!! DM beta release on the horizon... Shit I'm pissed I didn't donate any sooner, and who there's. Irving wrong with requesting not demanding donations. Donations seem to be another off-topic, derailing, hot-topic point of discussion around here lol
A donation from me was rejected because they (or at least snikerz) didn't want me to have a say in anything.

hahahhaha xD

I don't believe the release schedule had anything to do with how many donations he got. I got the impression he just decided that now was the time.

DML doesn't support NTFS, so it's a very good bet that DM won't either. To split them for FAT32 you'll probably need the games in iso format and then use whatever software you prefer to convert the iso to a wbfs on the FAT32 partition. It'll have to split it to be able to write it.

i still have the original dios mios source

why is there even an issue with splitting files for fat32? gamecube games are all < 2GiB.

Simple. Some people are hellbent on using one partition format over another. Splitting and compressing Gamecube ISO images is downright useless and to be honest, completely unnecessary.

I was replying to this.

Supposedly this person is more scared about using FAT32 and splitting WBFS files for his Wii games than using libNTFS.

That's actually not necessarily true - Xenoblade Chronicles in particular freezes on a cutscene if the default split is used; the split needs to be made elsewhere in the file for the game to work properly. I don't know of any other cases like that, but using NTFS or WBFS (iirc) would avoid the split issue completely. (Not that any of this is relevant to DML or DM, considering the fact that NTFS has already been ruled out as an option; also, the limited disc space of GCN discs makes this discussion of splits even more irrelevant, so hopefully we can all just drop the subject.)

That points to a bug that needs fixing, rather than a limitation of FAT32 as fragmentation on WBFS & NTFS will introduce similar problems. All cios gets is one long list of fragments, whether they are from one or two files should be irrelevant.

if your dumping from a loader. it will split the file for you, an name it correctly,(along with wii backup manager.) so there shouldn't be a problem.. as far as splitting wii games into two. they work fine. SBB. an few other games work just as if they were the disc or any other game on HD. i never had any problems with my games. an i've been using fat32, before it was norm. never ever used wbfs. an used ntfs my be for a month.( if that long).
