0/10 for news posting effort.

Nintendo probably don't want to waste resources.

At least they will show the final product(Wii U) on E3 :D
*If* they resolve the technical difficulties they're having with the controller. If not, we'll see another shabby prototype.
They are having issues? :wtf: I remember something like that months ago, but it was later confirmed as a rumour. I think.

Or they just don't have anything to show so they're not wasting anyone's time with stuff we've already seen on numerous presentations.

I find the OP post more reasonable. ~3 months to e3 with not even a thing to show if they want too?

If you are talking about the rumors, there wasn't any proof of Technical difficulties. Back up by that dev impressions, I believe there wasn't.
At least not that badly.

I stopped trusting the opinions of developers when they started blatantly speaking out of their asses. Some say the WiiU is stronger than current-gen (and if the specs we know so-far are real, it sure as hell is) and some say it isn't, some say that the streaming of video to the controller is blazing fast, some say it's mind-numbingly bugged. As of today, I don't really "believe" anything I read about this console but I do remember reading about some Nintendo representative stating that they're switching chips in the remote periodically to see which one will do the task best, and this involves alot of re-designing, so I'd call that an issue.

Most rumours/news about it being more powerful come from known developers and 3rd parties. Most rumours about it being underpowered come from "unknown" or "anonymous" people. Seriously, take a look.

Let's have a look back at 2005-6, shall we?

Hideo Kojima -- He does admit to wanting to make games for all three next generation platforms, though, giving the nod in particular to Revolution as a platform that, as a designer, it would be "foolish" for him to pass up on. With Revolution, he adds, he'd like to make strives in areas other than graphics and sound, a change for him, as he believes he's known as someone who pursues realistic visuals owing to his love of movies. Revolution isn't the platform he most wants to support, though. That honor goes to the PC, although he admits that his staff doesn't take so kindly to this position.

So many Metal Gear Solid games for the Wii and PC, oh yes...

Hiroi Ouji -- Red Company President
The creator of the Sakura Wars and Tengai Makyo series gives himself 70 out of 100 for the year. When asked about PS3, Xbox 360 and Revolution, he goes on and on about how interested he is in the Nintendo hardware -- specifically, the controller.
*1* Sakura Wars for the Wii throughout its entire lifespan, the game barely used the controller's features from what I remember.

Q: Will Revolution be able to play DVD movies?
A: Yes. However, DVD-movie playback will not be available out of the box. Revolution owners must buy an additional dongle that inserts in front of the machine in order to watch Hollywood DVD movies on the platform.

Never did.

Finally, Bandai has pledged support for Revolution.

Thanks for the pledge, we sort of wanted good games though.

"I could give you our technical specs, as I'd know you'd like that, but I won't for a simple reason: they really don't matter. The time when horsepower alone made all the difference is over. Work on Revolution is well underway. When you see it you will be excited because you will experience a gaming revolution."

Probably why you're beefing up the WiiU, huh?

With all that said, I say "thanks, but no thanks" to what developers say before the release. I want to see the console with my own two eyes running actual games, preferably I want to play on it a bit before I have an opinion about it.

These developers are talking about the new concept Nintendo came up with - Motion Control. I don't see any developer commenting about the Wii(Revolution)'s horsepower on this quote, only the last one, saying that it doesn't matter.

That wasn't what I was highlighting. What I wanted to say was that every developer will always be overjoyed when new, interesting hardware is released and will spout all sorts of bullshit just for the sake of saying something and whether they will follow up with what they promised and whether their opinions were truthful to the factual state of matters or not is to be determined in the future.

I'll quote some stuff for ya:
Two separate, but unnamed, developers have suggested that the Wii U is less powerful than current gen home consoles. While another, equally unlikely source, has allegedly leaked the US release date.

Donald's statement runs counter to that of Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia, who said when the Wii U was first unveiled at last year's E3 that he understood it "will have 50 percent more processing power compared to the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360." But it does match up with a rumored set of hardware specs for the system that leaked last December, which described a system that was "very similar" to the Xbox 360 from a hardware perspective.

Yesterday's rumour mill was churning out stories about 'anonymous' developers complaining that the Wii U is less powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360. In this Aliens: Colonial Marines video interview, Brian Martel, Chief Creative Officer at Gearbox Software and director of Aliens: Colonial Marines, seems to suggest otherwise.

"The machine itself will be one of the best looking versions of the game [sic]… because they've got more RAM than some of the other things [platforms]", says Martel. "They're late in the cycle so they've got this really great processor."

Last week Randy Pitchford was enthusing that Aliens: Colonial Marines Wii U would be the definitive version of the game thanks to the unique properties of the Wii U controller. In the below interview, Martel says it will also be one of the best looking (we'd imagine the PC version will offer the best graphics, so to us Martel is suggesting it's visually superior to the 360/PS3 versions).

Of course none of this gives us any hard facts about the Wii U specs in comparison to other consoles, but at the same time it's hardly a man complaining about the lack of oomph under the Wii U's bonnet, is it.
Han Randhawa is the art director for Darksiders 2 and in this interview towards the end he said something that could be considered conflicting with another recent interview with Marvin Donald the director of Darksiders 2.

"There is not much I can really talk about right now, but I think that the Wii U is a pretty powerful machine, which obviously means more resources, and means you can do a lot more. So the Wii U team is doing very well, we've been working with Nintendo and I think it's going to be a very exciting version of Darksiders but we want to keep that overall theme relatively consistent."
shrugging-pinkie-pie.png
Some people actually stated about the console performance, and Nintendo replied to the media with the same argument as they did with the Wii:
"We do not focus on technology specs. We understand that people like to dissect graphics and processing power, but the experience of playing will always be more important than raw numbers."

---does not get my point---
I see how the rumour that it is more powerful is more probable than the one that it is less powerful than current-gen consoles. I can read, I frequent this site, I've read those articles. I'm just not interested in rumours. I can't possibly be more clear than that.

Yeah, they are just rumours, I agree with that. But SOME said it can outperform current gen consoles, and they were not rumours, seriously.
Anyway, let's wait for E3 to see the final thing :D

I know it can outperform the current generation - I'm a specs nut, I realize that. We don't have the *official* specs though, just what we gathered so-far, that's why I'm not judging the system, haven't I already said that? :P

I seriously believe they don't have anything *new* to show, not until the product is finished and ready for shipping. They have better things to do then going back and forth with demo's.
