OK, so I finally purchased a 3DS because my DS Phat is dying on me (randomly shuts off during games). I had a CycloDS Evolution for the old system but I see that it is not listed as supported on the "3DS Updates and Flashcarts" page. What carts would you suggest with the following things in mind? (and yes, I know 3DS games won't work regardless)
  • I would like to be able to easily transfer my saves from my CycloDS if possible.
  • I read in another topic that a couple of the carts have GBA support (is that true, if so I would like this to fully replace my DS)
  • Obviously I would like to go with a cart that is quickly updated after a Nintendo Update
Any and all suggestions are welcome. :)

Thanks for your help so far. I went ahead and ordered the DSTwo even though I know that I will have to convert my important saves (and if I can't I'm not too worried about it). I know about Shunywebs converter, is there any other converters that would allow me to batch convert them. Also does the DSTwo use the same save files as the other Supercards?

some flash carts has built-in processor and RAM which enabled them to emulate the GBA on the cart (!) and transfer the image\sound to the DS as a cart, that might be successfull, though it'll drain the battery, especially on the 3DS side, carts aren't suppose to do that naturally so your battery lifetime on the 3DS\DS-mode is not gonna predict the correct battery lifetime

also when an exploit will be available on the 3DS, emulators for GBA and file transferring via SD card will be easily done via homebrew, of course no one promised a DLDI\wannabeDLDI that will support all the flashcarts so you might have to patch the emulator, but that's the worst case in case of a flash cart, if it's an exploit... just prepare the ROMs and maybe BIOS

I know that I will have to convert my important saves (and if I can't I'm not too worried about it).

I've copied the saves from AceKard, CycloDS and DSTwo and they all run fine if the name of save file is the same as the ROM. Even manage to load saves from a different region. Give it a go, and you'll be surprised at how little changes or modification is needed.

Figured I'd check in. I received my DSTwo today. I just deleted my Cylco firmware, dropped the DSTwo's firmware on there (leaving the roms and saves intact) and it worked fine. All my saves worked and everything. Thanks for the help.

I have a very similar situation, i was wondering where you ordered yours from? Or if any one can recommend a good place to order dstwo. One that has been updated, as my 3ds is up to date.

Going off of shoptemp's list, these look like the best options right now.

Acekard is the best cost-benefit card.

SuperCard DSTwo is best, but is expensive.

I would recommend Acekard, but it's your choice.
