Hacking Which Flash Cart Should I Get?

Because I'm looking for two flashcards, one for a DSi and one for a DSi XL.
Is the CycloDS iEvolution still the only one able to play DSi games or do you suggest an other card?

Every flashcart can play dsi-enhanced games in ds mode; iEvo is the only one that can run them in dsi mode. In dsi mode, you gain camera access and extra ram, but only a handful of games actually need it. iEvo has been pretty outdated and dsi mode isn't really a necessity, but for a collector's item, it might be interesting.

Otherwise, if all you want it compatibility to games, I recommend you an acekard 2i or r4i gold 3ds (from r4ids.cn). They both are compatible with the latest dsi/3ds firmwares. They generally cost around $15 or so.

If you want more than that, you can try the SuperCard DSTwo. It has many extra features (real-time-save/guide, native gba emulator, special homebrews, etc.), although it costs quite more than the above two.

So it means that I can't use the camera for face recognition in Nintendogs for example with the acecard of r4i card? Therefor I would need an iEvo but that card is outdated at the moment?

Yeah. What I basically meant is that dsi mode isn't worth it, especially when iEvo is outdated and lacks support from the team.

Screen resolution changing is a function of the 3DS, nothing to do with DS flash cart firmware.

Here's my old copy-paste on the subject since I'm too lazy to re-write it. XD

AKAIO's Anti-Anti-Piracy (AAP) is NOT the same thing as the DSTwo's "clean mode".

DSTwo has Clean Mode. This enables new games at the cost of soft-reset and cheats and in-game menus.
AKAIO has AAP. This is just a new type of AP fixing, it will NOT work on all games, it's currently a little buggy, and it still allows soft-reset and cheats.

Its an attempt at software emulating reads below 8000h which is used to detect flashcarts.

The AP it bypasses is the new "generic AP we'll stick on games" that Nintendo came up with, that's why it's working on new titles. It's not something that can be done on "weaker" carts, it was mentioned the R4 is not capable of it properly, that's why Wood doesn't have that option and is patching the individual games as they come out.

The DSTwo's Clean Mode makes more games play because it's an all-around method, whereas AKAIO's AAP is focused on one specific type of AP, however it's focus is the AP that new games RIGHT NOW are coming out with, which is why it's playing the same new games as the DSTwo.

It can currently break single-cart download-play, that's why it's optional (so you can turn it off in order to use that feature), future AKAIO versions will not have the AAP option on the screen once it's fixed up properly.

Clean Mode (DSTwo) and AAP (AKAIO/Acekard) are not like Coke and Pepsi. They're like Coke and Iced Tea. They are not the same thing. I'm not saying "they're not the same" for some stupid pedantic political shit, I'm saying they're not the same thing because they're really not the same thing, outside of the fact that both are meant to allow new games to run.

The 3 are good,if you have money supercard and wants allot of extra features but if not acekard or R4i gold(I have to say that the R4i gold's Wood r4 gets update more often than acekard 2i).

They exist and update every so often whenever there's a bunch of games that don't play.

Which is a lot more than can be said for the shitty carts, which is partially where the distinction lies.

There's no specific emulator for the DSTwo, you use a general Gameboy/Color emulator for the DS.
