It appears that a Japanese 3DS fan has figured out how to use a PSX controller for the 3DS, via the Slide Pad Attachment.
The same user also managed to make a Arcade Stick attachment for the 3DS, although it was not connected via the same method.

Any ideas how he did this?

I can understand how he could interface with the shoulder buttons and the external circlepad - those are on the add-on and could be re-wired. What I can't understand is how he seems to be using the function buttons that are ON THE 3DS, that shouldn't be possible.

I call fake on the controller. The 3D light isn't on (it stays on, even when the slider is all the way down).

EDIT: Also, what Foxi said.
How would he get the game to respond like that?

Edited: Answered, parental controls may be the reason for the 3D light.

I thought the 3D light could be turned off if the Parental controls were on ?

Also, what is that thing plugged on the CCP at the very beginning ? The Playstation Controller ?

That is interesting. I think the only way to get the 3D light to not be on, is to be viewing a video that is not 3D enabled (I think?), and to be playing a older, non-3D enabled game. However, if it was a video, how would he get the bottom screen to display that?
And, how would he get the game to respond like that?

Half the time it looked like he was just twiddling the sticks and randomly hitting buttons in accordance with the video.

Where exactly is the controller connecting to on the 3DS or for that matter the Circle Pad add-on? I'd knee jerk say this was fake...

Oh and for the sticks to work on that pad the analogue light should be on...it's not.

That would be correct, if it were connected to a Playstation. If he really rewired the Slide Pad (or 3DS), he may not have felt the need, or was unable to power the analogue light.
But yes, this may be fake, seems a little dodgy upon further watching.

So he would have rewired the pad as well. I'm merely basing the observation on video's like this one. If this is true he'd have had to modify his 3DS, Circle Pad and the Dual Shock, plus figure out a way around getting the pad input's recognised (eg. a DS driver)

Actually...what's the Circle Pad addon actually there for? It's not actually doing anything given he's had to create custom ports in the 3DS and Circle Pad itself (since both sticks are supposedly functional). Seems to me that the Circle Pad wouldn't actually be required for anything if this was possible.

What game was being played on the 3DS in the first video anyways? Was it a 3DS game or normal DS game? Only ask because the green 3D light isn't on, but it had to have been a 3DS game since regular DS games play at a different resolution...

EDIT: Nevermind, first few posts answered the question.

Its possible he didn't moddify the 3DS at all and just used the CPP to transmit the PSX buttons to the 3DS, it may just be that the CPP just acts like a converter or adapter for the 3DS and the controller which is most likely hardwired into the CPPs normal inputs.
