"What we saw last E3 is not a reflection of everything this console is able to offer. We have been trying the development kits and some of its new characteristics will improve its possibilities. It isn't something like Kinect or similar accessories, it's something different.
I can't tell you more about it because, if I do, Nintendo will send assassins to finish me! (laughs) But let’s say that Wii U will be a console with so many and unique possibilities that it will be difficult to show them in the box they are going to sell it or to be published by magazines and other mediums," said Yoshinori Ono.

hope they changed that stupid controller...
I don't see what's wrong with a tablet with buttons, it's quite nice, you don't even need the Wii U connected to a TV, so you can use it anywhere in your house and car :P

Yeah, it can be used like a tablet minus like all the things that actually make a tablet. If anything it's just a controller with a large screen in the middle.

The design of tablets are usually: big touch screen, camera, home button.
Wii U has all of those and makes the controller look like a tablet with buttons.

They're also known for being portable (portable meaning NOT INSIDE YOUR HOUSE) and have hundreds of different functional abilities. You can take notes, browse the web, play games (like actual portable games), and there's always the "there's an app for that" type of thing going. Just having a big touch screen and a few basic functions doesn't make it a tablet.

It's like I have this really shitty old phone I used to use. Back when we had flip phones. It has a camera, it can make calls, and it can text. But nowadays people have iPhones. They have cameras, can make calls, and can text, but my old phone certainly isn't an iPhone. By your standards it is. If you seriously think the Wii U controller will be as advanced as, say, an iPad, then you're kidding yourself.

Tablets aren't defined by having "apps for everything".
BTW, the Wii U is most likely able to take notes and definitely browse the web and play games (and Virtual Console games, which are "actual portable games")
The Wii U will be portable, you just need access to power or a big battery in your backpack (it's portable, but not the convenient type, plus it depends on your definition of "portable", everyone's is different..)
My comment was that it's like a tablet, not that it's like an iPad or every other new tablet out on the market.
And that bit about your old phone is a bit stupid, everyone knows the difference between a flip phone and an iPhone.

Yes, yes they are.

...But still requires connectivity to the console most likely. It's not like you'd be bringing that controller on a subway. It surely can browse the web but take notes? Doubtful.

And that bit about your old phone is a bit stupid, everyone knows the difference between a flip phone and an iPhone.

My point was that while the two pieces of technology have the same basic functions that they're miles apart in terms of what they can do. That's the same with a Wii U and any good tablet.

This is called the horror of opinions.

And about the 2nd part on the notes/whatnot, (If I were Guild) I won't exactly argue with this point because we do not know much about this yet.

Nintendo made it super clear the tablet is nothing than a hybrid monitor, wii-sensor bar and controller. It isn't a console or portable system in anyway.

(laughs)

Edit: People call it a tablet because it looks like a tablet. It isn't a tablet. It's an enhanced controller designed to add more functionality to games. That is all, and if you view this new functionality as pointless or detractive, that's on you.

I don't know, I think that controller is going to be the Wii U's biggest hindrance (though that name isn't too great either. It can't be too hard to come up with something better.).
