Kid Icarus Uprising set to become first Nintendo game to use 3DS peripheral.
Nintendo has confirmed the first 3DS game to utilise the controversial Circle Pad Pro add-on will be the long-awaited Kid Icarus Uprising - but it won't turn the game into a twin-stick shooter.
The delayed 3D action shooter joins Monster Hunter Tri G, Resident Evil: Revelations, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D, and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance to become the only first-party Nintendo game to support the Circle Pad Pro - also known as the expansion slide pad.
Kid Icarus Uprising director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that the pad will only enable players to swap hands, meaning that the stylus-based targeting system - which we found somewhat awkward way back the European 3DS launch - will stay.
"The way we are using the Circle Pad Pro in the game is to provide support for left-handed gamers," Sakurai told ONM.
The developer said that he only saw the device after it was announced with Monster Hunter 3G, admitting that twin-stick controls wouldn't suit the game anyway.
