as im sure most of you may know, a timeline of the zelda franchise was released a while back. for thoughs who didnt know here is a link to the story and the timeline

http://wii.ign.com/articles/121/1215301p1.html

any who, after reading through the timeline, i only noticed 3 places where the next game could go.

there should be one that follows up to skyward sword, there should be another after majora's mask, and then finally, one after 4 swords at the end of the child timeline.

knowing this, which do you think will be the next zelda game? im betting on the majora's mask sequel. if you remember correctly nintendo said they may remake majora's mask for the 3DS, but also stated they would put a new zelda game on it first, so why not the sequel to the game they are gonna remake? :)

thought, opinions, derps? o.O

Also, your reasoning that there are only three possible places is dumb.
They can put a game wherever they darn well please.
im just going by the timeline :P if you notice, there are little notched where games fit. they are the uncompleted parts of the story (the future games) and of coarse zelda has to come to an end so that leaves us where vaati is resurrected at the end of timeline B.

There are actually few places where you couldn't put a new Zelda than places you could.

And hereby by Nintendo magic, it will magically fit in that magical timeline.

In between WIndwaker and MM I beleive.
if that happens the only possible storyline for the game is the one where you trigger the flood with the help of the gods, but then you wont be playing any kind of hero because 'the hero was missing and so the gods flooded the land to stop ganon' or some crap like that (didnt played ww yet)

I assume it'd be after spirit tracks. Seems to be the handheld trend for Zelda, aside from them revamping OOT, and hopefully MM.

Miyamota had said in an 'Iwata Talks' interview that he was interested in using 3D to layer the Light/Dark worlds simultaneously in "A Link to the Past". Anouma said in a more recent interview that he wasn't considering doing another remake after Ocaria of Time 3D.

Hopefully, this all means we'll get an original, top-down, layered-world 3D Zelda game for the 3DS in the near future. I'm really hoping my hunch turns out right -- it'd be awesome if true. :)

They've hinted that Majora's Mask will be getting remade at least two times now and that fan input will have an impact on whether they ultimately decide to remake it on the 3DS and even if they do, it wont be until they release at least one new and original Zelda adventure for the 3DS, and furthermore that we should expect the graphics of such game on the 3DS to be ont he same level as Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword.

Also, if they did a direct sequel to Majora's Mask and we're still playing as the same hero of time, and if he stays stuck in the dimension that Terminia is located in (that recent book with the timeline revealed that Terminia is indeed in another dimension, not the same one as Hyrule, which would explain the trippy intro of Majora's Mask as you enter Terminia), and the ending doesn't indicate he finds a way out of that dimension, would that mean that the timeline would split again into a universe where the hero of time disappeared, and one where he lives on in the new land of Terminia)?

its always a different link, so thats ok. but maybe, they'll name him differently this time? like, the name link has been forbidden as not to insult the legendary hero. and besides having some connection along the lines of descendant or rebirth, link is not the main char and isnt blonde (remember pink hair link)

other than that, i would like a button controlled game like links awakening too... actually, as long as its button controlled, its probably good. ts controls are just too annoying

The "Time Line" can be set to " Half Pass a Monkey's Ass, A quarter til his Balls" as long as it plays good and is fun. ;)
