Hacking Updating 3DS V2.2.0-4 Patch for R4i Gold 3DS

I'm currently able to use my R4i Gold on my 3ds, but I want to update it to 2.2.0-4 compatibility before I play MK7, Super Mario 3D Land, etc. My current 3DS firmware is V2.1.0-4. I'm not sure what my R4i Gold firmware is but has an icon with a halo and wings when I go to open it. I just recently bought it and it came in a box with Christmas decorations on it.  I put the update on my memory card, but when I try to install it, it keeps saying "card check fail." I took out the cartridge and put it back in but the results are still the same. Anyone know how to install it without getting this error?

hello guys, i just got my r4igold 3ds card in the mail... i shoved it into my 3ds and it dosnt work. im a total noob when it comes to these things, what am i doing wrong? ( i updated my 3ds last week with the world wide eshop/system update)
i downloaded the kenrel update v1.51b, i deleted my sd card and from scrach i unziped the kenrel and copied it directly to the sd card and then put that into the r4i cart. when i load up my 3ds it says dorasu ( a pair of wings and halo) but when i load it up it still sticks at a black screen saying loading, please please someone help me with this problem.

If you have updated to version 3.0.0-5 then you will need another console ds-lite ideally to update your flashcard , the update to the cart should have happened before the 3ds update.

If you can get use of another DS then simply follow the instructions on the flashcart website to upgrade the card then you should be ok to run it on your 3ds.

ok so my 3ds is updated last week.. so the flashcard i got today wont work. i will need a dslite to uptade it...how exactly do i do that? im a total noob, if you could help me with this abit more id be very happy. i was on the website and i cant find any information, the only thing i found is to fix a whitescreen problem that happens on the 3ds cart using a dslite. but my problem is that its stuck on a loading scree.

I had the same problem at first(stuck at loading screen). Download both the V1.42 Wood Kernel and the Gold Kernel ENG V1.51, both available from http://www.r4ids.cn/r4i-download-e.html. Now open up the ENG folder. Copy the folder _SYSTEM_ and the file WOODR4.NDS to the root of your micro SD card. Now open up the folder Wood_R4iGold_V1.42. Copy the folder _rpg and the file _DS_MENU.DAT to the root of the micro SD card. Now try to boot the R4 on your 3DS. Let me know if that works.

Yes, delete everything off and add those folders/files like I said.(Just to make sure it works right)

Glad to hear that worked! You can create a directory in the root, for example a folder named "games," that you navigate to from the main menu. Or you can just put them in the root of your micro SD card and they will appear on the main menu as soon as you start the R4. Whichever you prefer.

yea i just made a folder for games lol. thnx for all your help man, im really glad i got this up and runnin today and before xmas. imm off now to download a few roms. maybe even try love plus as its been patched hehe. cheers link. see ya around bud
