how did they do this?
The 3DS Dev Versions has a Port for connecting to a TV or is it a mod I never heard of?
hang on does anyone know if you can you snake properly (ie be good with mini turbos - key element of MK experience for me) in this version? if not that could be a big negative on the gameplay. IMO that ruined the Wii version and it looks like they've curbed it in this version too, daaamn
watching the videos it seems like there might still be some scope to be precise the mini turbo as it seems to charge much quicker than the wii. could be a nice comprimise between a mechanic allowing advanced players to get around faster and all out snaking, annoying the people who were too slow couldn't do it well. we'll see...
I play MKDS on my 3DS all the time (activity log clocks me at about 70 hours total) and I've had no problem with the thumb pad, and I'm a constant drifter. It's actually quite strong if you ask me. And a lot easier to use than the D-Pad. My only hope is that MK7 will feel the same with the thumb pad as MKDS does.a game like MKDS, MKDD, or maybe even MK64 wouldn't work with the 3DS's thumbpad. It's far too fragile to be mashing left and right.

The mini-turbo system will work very similar to MKwii. I agree, it really 'dumbs down' the gameplay. However, I think without the option of using the Dpad, a game like MKDS, MKDD, or maybe even MK64 wouldn't work with the 3DS's thumbpad. It's far too fragile to be mashing left and right. The N64 controllers were weak, but at least you could just buy a new controller instead of buying a whole system like you would with the 3DS. People who played MKDS competitively went through several DS's, even though the Dpad was fairly strong. If you were playing with a lite, expect to go through twice as many DS's. So overall, I was dissapointed with the gameplay style but it is well suited to the 3DS; unless they give us the option to use a Dpad!
The biggest problem with MKwii is that it's too 'easy' and by that I mean it's too easy to max out a time. I had a WR around 2 months after the games release, and today the WR is only less than a second faster. Whereas people are still managing to knock tenths of seconds off MKDS WR's 6 years later. No body wants to keep playing if they can't improve their times. So MKwii didn't fail because it stopped the 'cheating snakers', it failed (at a competative standpoint) because the gameplay was too simple. It's still a great game to play casually, though. Here's hoping MK7 manages to appeal to us as well as the kiddies; it doesn't need snaking to do that, but it does need something that requires a bit of skill.
Snaking was ridiculously easy on the DS.is it just me or does this edition of mario kart look amazing. i can tell already it'll be far more enjoyable than the Wii version, super smooth, maybe even better looking than double dash. i think it'll be a close call for how it compares to the DS version and Double Dash for quality. it could be the best Mario Kart yet. if not it'll likely be close.
i haven't got a 3DS yet but i'm getting one specifically for this title, played every Mario Kart on day one since the SNES days
don't really care about Nintendo updating the 3DS next year, i can sell mine and upgrade if its really worthwhile. having this Mario Kart at launch >>>

It just made the game too easy, making you able to pick up the game after learning how to snake and then just get 3 stars on all cups.
The Wii version though added more difficulty, from things such as many items at the other player's disposal.
So it makes the game a lot more challanging, I hope that MK7 is more like the Wii version than the DS version, even though i loved the DS version.
Of course simply drifting back and fourth is easy, but is it easy to be good at?Snaking was ridiculously easy on the DS.
Singler player, yeah. But even without snaking, it was still too easy to get 3 stars on all cups. For us, that is. I seen what looked to be a 6 year old enjoying the game only last weekend, and I guess they need to even out the computer difficulty for all age groups and skill levels. It just made the game too easy, making you able to pick up the game after learning how to snake and then just get 3 stars on all cups.
How else did it add more difficulty? Like I said, the gameplay mechanics are easy (like snaking) however there's no room to improve in MKwii. For example, snaking itself is easy but if you were to look at a WR run and try to copy it, you won't come close. Although if you look at a MKwii WR run, learn the strats, and try to emulate it, after only a week or so you'll be within a couple of seconds of the time at least. The Wii version though added more difficulty, from things such as many items at the other player's disposal.

Really? What's your Figure 8 circuit time? MK7 should feel better than the thumb pad with MKDS, since you'll have more control to slightly turn instead of it just triggering 'on' or 'off'.I play MKDS on my 3DS all the time (activity log clocks me at about 70 hours total) and I've had no problem with the thumb pad, and I'm a constant drifter. Originally it was thought they slightly sped up your kart like in SMK, although someone claimed that the Official Nintendo Magazine said that they are only used to unlock new parts.anyone have a guess what the new coins are for ?
On Figure 8 Circuit using Mario with the Tyrant kart my time is 1:35:258, but I don't really play Figure 8 Circuit. Too simple, On Rainbow Road my time is 2:12:996. (I don't drift on straight roads, btw. That's just cheating.)Really? What's your Figure 8 circuit time? The tyrant is pretty useless Try the BLS, you should be able to vastly improve your time. I only asked because F8C is a good indication of what leval someone is at. How long have you been playing? It's good to know people still play.On Figure 8 Circuit using Mario with the Tyrant kart my time is 1:35:258, but I don't really play Figure 8 Circuit.
Oh okay, then the 3DS thumb pad would still work fine for your type of gaming. I still don't see it lasting a whole lap of figure 8 circuit at a higher leval though.Too simple, On Rainbow Road my time is 2:12:996. (I don't drift on straight roads, btw. That's just cheating.)
