So i modded my wii with ModMii a few months ago. Everything works great using Configurable USB Loader. I also recently updated everything so i could run Skyward Sword.

Last night i decided to try and play some Mario Sunshine...

I made a Multi iso with MultiGame ISO Creator v3.5.4F+ containing Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. I then installed a WAD file of Gamecube Backup Launcher 0.2. When I boot that with the disc in the wii i goes to the GBL screen, drive clicks and then reboots the Wii back into the system menu.

From what i am reading its probably something to do with the cmios? A lot of the soft mod Gamecube guides say to install one but they are also quite old. I really don't want to mess up the ModMii stuff i have already installed.

Any Ideas?

Edit: It's a pretty old wii, so im pretty sure it will read DVD-R and its 4.1U if that matters :)

Please use the latest NeoGamma for gamecube backups:

Read the mini FAQ, although you did something right already, the latest version of the MultiGame ios creator is kinda broken.

You need a cMIOS or else the actual gamecube loader can't be loaded. And NeoGamma will automatically fix the dungeon map freeze in Wind Waker.

Works now! Thanks :) :)

EDIT: Well Wind Waker does.. Mario is just a ton of vertically scrolling red lines lol
EDIT2: Changed the video mode to wii and Mario works now (using component cables)

hey guys, i got a similar question.

I'm trying to figure out whether I can launch gamecube games with the usb loader provided through modmii.
WiiBackupManager doesn't recognize Gamecube images and I'm not sure if I can just throw a gamecube image in the wbfs folder on the hard drive.
I'm in the process of testing stuff out but in the mean time I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks in advance!

FYI, ModMii has an option to include a cMIOS in the guides

Also, don't waste your time trying to get GC usb-loading working, even if u get it working as best as possible it won't be great.

Hey, didn't expect you to drop in! (thanks for your work!)

Anyway, I've been accustomed to using multi-iso discs to launch gamecube games, so I'm surprised to learn usb-loading gamecube backups gives issues. Is this because there was no demand for gamecube backup support or are there issues with implementing it?

when the Wii is in GC mode, it loses access to the usb ports or something like that. There's a project called DIOS MIOS which eventually became DIOS MIOS LITE that is able to load GC games off an sd card, but compatibility it very low and there are audio issues. If u want to experiment with it, use ModMii to build sneek+di and an emulated nand with DML installed. Then use ModMii's game extractor ("S","4") to get at least one gamecube game on your sd card before trying to load it. Fair warning though, it's tough to get working, and even when u get it working it won't be perfect (audio all garbled)

I see. Unfortunately IMHO using an SD card for gamecube backups isn't very practical, so I think I'll stick with using multi-iso. I appreciate you taking time to explain the details, though!
