Firefox 9.0 Beta 2

They are trying to reduce it, and Firefox 7 should have fixed a memory leak with javascript.
But I still have Firefox taking 1.5GB of RAM every weeks.

It's like it's not releasing unused RAM once I close a tab or a page which contained video/flash/javascript etc.


Firefox 7 is a little better than Firefox 4 though, but it's not fixed completely.

People still use Firefox? lol. After Fx4 i moved to chrome.. used to be a die-hard Firefox user and used to defend it always, but Chrome is just superior imo.

Firefox has the largest market share of any browser currently. At least in the EU.

Well the way I understood it Mozilla saw that people liked Chrome rapid versions release (It has only been 3 years & it reached ver 15 already) so they decided that instead of going with thier old way of naming small updates with decimals (3.1,3.2,...) they just make a new version with the fixes & release it every 6 weeks . I find it really silly but in the end I don't really mind doing an update every few weeks .

there is just too much competition from google. if u were to check out chrome's statistics on w3c u will find out why the numbers are rising soo much. they are gonna lose the lead in around 3 months i predict.
its still my best browser though i like the simplicity of chrome which probably most users of the internet want.

All of this sounds interesting, but not enough for me. I had to stop using it when all the videos it played (no matter the video player) were out of sync.

Hopefully they'll fix that one day, but until then, I'm good with Chrome.

i haven't had video issues since the 4 betas. stable versions have never been weird for me.

but i'm a firefox guy, i enjoy the customization. and it's plenty fast these days. all the big browsers are fast enough that an individual browser's quirks and focuses are what make the decisions, not the speed.

Bawww my browsing experience is going to be severely reduced because the browser is on version 9, even though you don't see the version number unless you go out of your way to go to Alt-->?-->About.

People aren't upset about fast updates, there upset that the version numbers have become meaningless. There should be a tremendous difference between 4 and 9 (compare say IE4 vs IE9) but there isn't much of one at all. Inflating your version numbers to catch up to your competitors is silly.

As for the whole FF/Chrome thing, I would switch to chrome if it had a simple drop down search like FF did, instead of having to type a keyword. I tried fauxbar but it was way more then I wanted.
