I sure hope this isn't a question on how to download pirate apps...

BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT: Check out this for some nice rooted apps: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/dctbb/okay_so_you_rooted_this_is_what/

PS: No piracy. C'mon, it's crazy easy on an Android. You don't even need to be rooted! Just turn on Allow Unknown Sources and go to town! Just be careful, that's a pretty good way to lose your personal information.

OP is definitely just asking how to pirate, in which case rooting isn't needed. Make sure unknown sources are checked in settings > applications. Then you just download .apk files from online, put them on your sd card, load up a file explorer like Astro, then navigate to the .apk and install it.

There are also a few 3rd party pirate markets similar to the one you mentioned for iOS before it got removed. I obviously can't name them but a few of them do exist, and the one with the web store seems to be the best option right now.

@BiscuitBee that post was stolen from xda, i definitely remember seeing that on xda, plus the post mentions xda and the forums

Cyanogen is a replacement o/s built off source releases of android. Its made for each device specifically and after having a look not yours.

Theres nothing rooting can offer you apart from installing recovery and having access to the root file system (which includes changing your boot logo and boot theme) app's can be installed on any android device regardless of rooting or not.

To stop me from getting this bit snipped im using a free app, for example if you want tetris search on google for
tetris apk

its better if you find out the latest version of the app and then search google for say
tetris 1.2.2 apk

IF you decide to go the illegal route, like to be honest most of us do you have to be aware pirated market app (not free) will not update, it'll just throw you an error, but then again its the same with the iphone

EDIT
Cause i'm a frickin genius and well I know where to look for android roms (o/s's) and mods I found a page on xda-forums, which is all about your tablet/phone. It contains rom's, kernels, and a couple of mods. And fyi for the not knowing, replacement kernels will allow you to overclock your processor fundamentally making your device faster anyways enough of the bull crap here the link,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136
I cant help you install anything but everything should have instructions, hope that helps and if it does thanks where its due

Thanx a lot. I found some apk's I was looking for. Now questions:
- a500 comes with a lot of junk in its memory. How to delete all these Gameloft demos and unused soft (there is no remove option)
- Before that, how to make a total tablet backup, so I can restore it in case of problems/brick.
- Is it OK to go to AppStore even I my device is rooted? Will I have problems with syncing software that I got from different source?
One more time yusuo - Than You.

1&2. First install titanium backup from the market ,press setting button , chose batch then backup all user apps + system data & you will have full backup of your stuff after that go back to the app list in the app & uninstall all the useless stuff you see just don't go crazy and remove system apps .

3. Rooting doesn't prevent you from accessing the market or cause any problem in the market & as for apps from different source the app data will remain the same no matter if you install from market or somewhere else but the version of the app will be the one installed latest no matter from where you instal it .

Titanium backup will only back up your apps, not the full phone, if it bricks, your backed up apps will not help you. For a full backup, you need to use ClockworkMod Recovery and do a full backup (more instructions here).

For getting rid of the bloatware, use Titanium Backup to either delete or freeze the apps/processes that are safe to remove (make sure they are).

Rooting doesn't affect your android market access.

First of all.. There is no Cyanogen for you Iconia A500. I have one too. The most I ever do on it is emulators... Not much to do on a tablet. Also I have mine overclocked to 1.6 Ghz. Tablets aren't all that great
