Hardware Wii Remote Plus - Beware of knockoffs

If you remove the film the plastic underneath is still shiny. They are not trying to hide a flat plastic finish with glossy plastic film. I only brought it up because this film is absent on a genuine. They did a pretty good job of matching the plastic textures of an original finish.

As for its Motion Plus, last night I was playing some 2 player Sports Resort. My friend had the genuine and I had the fake as we played that sword game where you race to slice objects they throw in front of you. We were about evenly matched on that one and my controller was not making any outlandish motions. I have been playing quite a bit of archery as well and I can get the precision I need from both the genuine and the fake. So far the Motion Plus on these fakes seem to work well enough. At first glance they seem to be well worth $15 but who knows how long they will continue to function properly if they are made of cheap components.

I would order that from someplace else if you can. $164.99 Argentine pesos is worth $40 USD, which is enough to buy a real Remote Plus here. I don't know much about the South American market but it looks like knockoff prices should be closer to $60-70ARS. How much does a real one cost in Argentina?

Hm, they do seem to be quite good for the price.
15usd is around 90sek. A real wiimote with builtin motionplus is around 500sek. Quite a big price difference.
Can buy 5 of them and still get some spare compared to 1 real wiimote lol


... Although I doubt its possible to get it shipped here for that little with shipping and toll and all that crap...

btw... I talked with the guy selling those fakes wiimotes in mercadolibre. He said that I will recieve the wiimote in 30 days because it is shipped from china.... haha lol... fuck this guy....

You should also be able to tell by the quality of the shiny plastic. I have to fake ones and the finish has hairline cracks. They also feel cheaper. But I only bought them to be used guitar hero controllers so for that purpose thy are quite a deal

Well maybe most of you already know but nintendo did release wiimotes with MotionPlus already installed... mine came like that but then again from factory... looking at those as they are I agree too that are fake... also mostly due to chinese writing on the box

Are you saying it's chinese and not japanese? Because I would find it perfectly acceptable for a japanese product to have japanese writing on the box and manual.
Nobody said these were fake because they had the motion plus built in... they're fake because of the obvious manufacturing defects and their product ID is incorrect.

The writing on the box is Japanese, not Chinese. The fake blue's battery door also has some Japanese writing.
I do not know for certain that these are made in China, but if you order them online, they usually ship from Hong Kong or China. Also, Nintendo has China building official Wiimotes since factory work in China is cheaper than in Japan. These days most electronics are built in China, even if they are originally designed elsewhere. For all I know, these are built in some other country near China that also allows black market knockoff factories to thrive, but I doubt Japanese authorities would put up with a factory building these knockoffs.

After some testing I have found that the D-Pad is a little crappy on the knockoffs. I was playing Super Mario Bros. 2 (U) on FCEUGX and I was climbing the first vine on 1-1 to get to the first dream door potion. I was pushing straight up on the D-Pad but it was registering as diagonal so I kept falling off the vine. I still have seen no problems with motion, Motion Plus, pointer, or using the fake as a transmitter for other controllers. It's D-Pad even seems to work well enough for New Super Mario Bros Wii.

maybe the D-Pad has problems with homebrew. have you tried other emulator?

One of the reasons why I don't buy knock off controllers for ANY video game system except N64.

They have either turbo controllers which I dislike or manufactured in such a way it feels like a Chinese copy of an Chinese copy controller.

The boxes shown on their pages are identical to my knockoff boxes. The photos are not very high resolution so I can't see much detail but on the red one I can almost make out the border of the peel off plastic around the LED's and the D-Pad appears to have less space around the edges just like my knockoffs. In their description they claim that these controllers are not printed with "Wii branding" which is an outright lie. You can see the Wii logo on the controllers and the Nintendo logo on the boxes. Edit: I am looking at some of the other ones and some of their knockoffs really are unbranded. They only lie about it on some of the pages.

Those of us in the US should be vigilant with this one's packaging http://www.honsoncn....a-version-.Html. It's a knockoff controller and nunchuck disguised in US packaging.
It's comforting that there is some degree of tech support available for these according to the web site. I guess the factory is located in Dongguan, China.

maybe the D-Pad has problems with homebrew. have you tried other emulator?

It's a mechanical issue with the knockoff d-pad. When you press up on the d-pad it rocks between left-up and right-up way too easily. In Mario 2 you are not attached to the vine or ladder like you would be in most games so a mistaken left-up or right-up causes you to hop off the vine or ladder. I have been stress testing one of the fakes more than the other and it seems to only apply to the fake I use more. The one I have been using less behaves normally for now.

So the dpad is of very low quality then.

Maybe you should open it up (that is, if youre not worried about warranty and stuff ...) and see if it can be fixed.

Maybe you had bad luck with only 1 of the controllers. With these chinese things you never know.... sometimes they work great most of the time, and sometimes they dont work at all!

lesson learned here never buy Wiimotes from eBay even in the UK you get Chinese sells selling knockoffs for everthing they can copy, I usually filter out Chinese sellers but a lot of people don't know how to do that and they get ripped off.
