Hi there, I was wondering how you can get games with special mappers like Robopon Sun
and its japanese counterparts (Sun, Star, Moon, and Comic Bom Bom Special Version)
to play on the EZ-FLASH Jr cart or are the people currently making a firmware update that will make those games to run properly
in said cart?

Unfortunately, Robopon isn't playable on any flashcards, since the HUC3 mapper isn't totally understood. It featured RTC (real time clock) and an IR (infrared sensor) for wireless trading (it was called GB Kiss).

EZ-Flash Jr is a product long abandoned. Even the RTC feature was never fixed, so don't get your hopes high about firmware updates.

I was trying changing the header of Ropobon ROM to another mapper, but it isn't so simple.

Pokemon Trading Card Game japanese version used the HUC1 (HUC3's predecessor) mapper, while the USA release uses MBC5. In theory, it should be possible to hack the Robopon series ROMs to another mapper, so it could work on flashcards, but I don't think anyone would undertake such project.

Ah, that's such a shame, such a shame, indeed. Oh well, might as well stick
to my physical copies of both Robopon Sun and one of its japanese counterparts, Robot
Ponkottsu Star version. However, I'm planning
on buying another physical copy of Robopon
Sun for the purpose of making a series of playthroughs for my YT channel, which is why
I was wondering on how to get said game to
work on my flash cart, but regardless, thanks for the feedback, man. Hopefully one day,
someone out there can make a hack for the
Robopon games (and its japanese counterpart
Robot Ponkottsu) on the GBC to be fully emulated, but only time will tell. Once again,
thanks for the feedback. You have a good one.

Romhacks that make Robopon playable on flashcartridges were released some days ago.

The description only mentions EDGB X7 and MBC-3 flashable cartridges. I wonder if EZ Flash Junior works. Someone on the comments said that it works on EZ Flash Jr. I will try to test, when I get time.

According to the description, Real Time Clock works, but others features obviously don't work because of lack of hardware.

Description:

Build em, collect em, trash em. Robopon Sun Version is a monster collecting and battling game that was released on a custom cartridge. While you can buy physical copies of the game, the game does not run on any flash cart on the market, as they don’t support the custom Hudson designed HUC-3 mapper. That is until now..

Introducing the Robopon Sun Version MBC-3 patch! Finally you can play this gem of a game on a flash cart of your choice!

The following patch allows you to play Robopon Sun Version on an Everdrive X7, or a MBC-3 flashable cartridge from Inside Gadgets. Because of the conversion from the custom Hudson made HUC-3 mapper to the MBC-3 mapper(used in games such as Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal), all IR functionality has been removed. The RTC(Real Time Clock) functionality works. Link cable trading works. Opening chests that require a tv remote functionality works without the need for one. As the Everdrive does not have a built in speaker, speaker alerts do not work. Patch provided by Luke from RetroSix(https://retrosix.co.uk/).
